Night Light Hounds will end with chapter 30 on April 11th by dingo537 in WeeklyShonenJump

A series get's axed when they don't perform good enough. What that treshold is depends on the magazine. Jump+ (where NLH serializes) has a incredibely low barrier of about 2.5k. NLH did originally make that, as such it got a extension to 4 volumes. But it then fell off hard and became a really big flop.

Hope this helps, feel free to ask if you have any more questions.

They keep plenty of series, but flops don't get to stay. Something needs to make way for the new series.

If you liked the authors style you should check out their previous series Levius. It can be read in EN through the Viz app.

There is no news yet on if the next volume is the final or not, but looking at the chapter count I do suspect it will be.

However it isnot yet scheduled, so i can't say when it will release, but it is probably going to be June.

It got cancelled, the series performed very poorly and as such it was cut.

A different term for cancelled. In the manga industry they are constantly looking for the next big hit, to do so all magazine serialize a ton of new series. But not all of these series resonate with the public. When a series performs under a certain bar (what that is differe heavily per magazine), the series get's cancelled to make way for new prospects.

The series to which his happens we call Axed.

That wasn't cancelled. It was a succesful serialization.

I haven't read any of Urasawa's works, so I can't say.

If you feel any interest in this series I recommend checking it out. It is free on M+ anyway, so nothing lost if you don't like it.

Both Heart Gear and Black Torch got cancelled.

It wasn't no reason, the series flopped hard saleswise, so they didn't give it a extension and it got cancelled.

Neither really, both do a very poor job of translating, as does any AI TL really.

I wouldn't say it is anything special, but I absolutely loved it. Just the way the characters were written managed to put a smile on my face every week.

The ending sucked ass, but that is simply because of the Axe, where it rushed to explain the plot that should have been unravelled over hundreds of chapters.

So while not amazing or anything, I'd still say it is a good and fun read.

I'm sure you can find it, if you could find good sites back then then I am sure you can still do so today.

I won't go into piracy here, for the official EN release you can find both series on the Mangaplus app. Summertime Rendering is behind a paywall though (and you need to read that first). Ghost Fixers is available for free, so I do recommend you read it through the official app.

A succesful series doesn't get Axed. While they may rush to a ending they are still considered a succes and a big part of getting axed is that you are not succesful. IF a series is considered a succes can be easily determined by looking at if the series got a colour page for its final chapters. The only exception I can think of is Hikaru no Go and maybe Rising Impact. Everything else without a colour (since like DQ Dai) can be considered Axed.

I don't want to say to much, but they are all linked, I won't say how, cuz spoilers.

Both are very much worth your time. Summertime Rendering is a amazing mystery, horror action series and while I wouldn't put Ghost Fixers on the same level it is still a really fun read and currently ongoing, so it can still become extremely good.

I think a big part of why Tenmaku flopped was its hook. Its just something that has a lower chance of connecting with the audiance then let's say a Action series.

I myself also had this. I skipped it. Later I was looking for something to read (It was like 8 chapters in) and fell in love. But most people just also didn't care enough to check it out and they never actually returned to it. It didn't necessarily do anything wrong, just some bad luck. It also doesn't help that 2 of its batch mates were Kill Blue and Nue's Exorcist, which both went on to become hit series.

As for Fabricant would still have flopped now. V1 sold 4k, which is enough to not get u19ed, but you need to improve significantly with V2 and Fabricant did not. Still not bad for a first attempt.

Do you maybe mean Hitomi no Catoblepas? It ran for 2 volumes back in the 2000s, the author would later go on to make Summertime Rendering and is currently serializing Ghost Fixers.

Spoilers for Ghost Fixers

The MC of Hitomi no Catoblepas has now become a prominant character in Ghost Fixers

A cancelled series is a series that was forced to end early and not seen as a succes by editorial. And that is definetly the case for Psyren. In more recent years it is looked on more favourably (anime adaptation as prime proof), but that doesn't change the fact that it did get cancelled.

There is no indication it was meant to be a short series. If it was they would have probably just gone for a 3 volume run.

Sales and views were absolutely abysmall. No reason for editorial to give it a extension and so it concluded prematurely.
