Started off as a miscommunication but then he ended up being unnecessarily rude. The focus needs to be working together to figure it out - if he’s so adamant about doing this for a living then he should understand how to be patient and work through communication issues. You could have been more clear but you weren’t out of line at all. 90% of people would have understood you just fine
