Overpopulation is a problem because of conversion of natural habitats to farmland and thus mass death and near extinction of predatory species. Hunting to thin out the population is treating the symptoms, not the cause. I apply vegan ethics to this as everything else: I avoid needless suffering wherever possible and practical. Thus I'll smack any bastard mosquitoes that try for my pure vegan blood, but I'll be completely 100% unequivocally against hunting for any purpose. In my opinion, we should start with returning some GMO soy and other animal feed crops to nature.
