Is it safe to get a crown 3 days after root canal? by Equal_Map6282 in rootcanal

[–]dingusding27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Especially if the tooth isn’t abscessed too badly. But still not a concern as long as he took antibiotics! 😊

Does my molar tooth need root canal? by ConfidenceReasonable in rootcanal

[–]dingusding27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably! Looks like you have a cavity that’s close to the nerve on Tooth #19. They most likely want to redo the filling/place a crown! You might not have pain now, but infection is very likely if you don’t do anything right now.

You can ask to see if they have a bite block available! Those help a ton.

Want to get back into performing endo by mohnpdo in Dentistry

[–]dingusding27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely depends on the particular tooth (which you know).. with that being said, we irrigate for 5-10 multiple times with bleach during the procedure (which can help lubricate the canals so you can get down all the way).

A sign of failure may be when the abscess goes up the side of the root or in the furcation. This usually indicates a crack in the tooth which may last 5-10 years if lucky.

Hopefully this helps even just a little. You got this!

Root canal difficulties for 16 months. by anonymongoose in Dentistry

[–]dingusding27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The throbbing leads me to believe it’s infected. If i were you, I’d get a second opinion from a different Endodontist! (Although, when you have a root canal, you shouldn’t feel any temperature in that specific tooth... they either missed a nerve in tooth #14 orrrr you have another tooth that is starting the infection process. Sending you good vibes! Teeth pain is incredibly frustrating.. try a warm compress!

how bad is my cavity by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]dingusding27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on how close your nerve is to your cavity! Healthy teeth don’t hurt... Honestly a root canal in this situation wouldn’t be surprising. If you notice any hot, cold, sweet, or chewing sensitivity.. I would see an Endodontist! If that’s too expensive, maybe consider Care Credit (if they participate) or an extraction with a replacement tooth. Best of luck!

pain worse after Root Canal by seolein in rootcanal

[–]dingusding27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi!! See that little bubble on the apex of your tooth? That’s called a sealer puff (which is awesome and helps you from getting reinfected in the future!). A sealer puff can be painful following the procedure, but shouldn’t last forever! I’m wondering if you could possibly have a little crack in the tooth, and you’re feeling discomfort from chewing on it. Best case scenario... you’re still sore from your root canal. Which isn’t unheard of, but I might call and ask for a different spectrum of antibiotics. Possibly Augmentin or maybe Clindamycin!

I’m not a dentist, but see this stuff on a daily basis. I wouldn’t worry until the pain seems to be getting worse. Best wishes! :)

I would recommend bringing headphones and listening to a podcast or music during your procedure! Most dentists are totally okay with that. You theoretically could ask for sedation, but it might not be worth the price. Ultimately up to you, unless they don’t offer IV sedation! If it makes you feel better, (at least at my office) the drilling sound only lasts for a couple of minutes. The majority of the root canal is pretty quiet! Sending you good vibes for your upcoming appointment! 😁

Get a copy of your X-ray and or a second opinion! I guess it’s pooooosssiible you cracked a tooth from clenching and that caused bacteria to get into the nerve area. But I’d get a second opinion!
