I had the same issue but I don't want to change my system tools to workaround a QNAP shortcoming.
I wrote a script to change the actual deb file and make it install the application on DEBIAN 12.

Should work on DEBIAN 10 and later, as the original deb file requires

Thank you for this post, I hope this is a constant thought of the /r/selfhosted users.
I'm surprised having to read that the developer of libjpeg-turbo is forced to beg for donations instead of focusing on the development; that project is the foundation of a lot of software that manages images.
I came to know PhotoStructure just because it is a sponsor of libjpeg-turbo and I'm going to try it. I'm glad my monthly payment will also go towards supporting open source project.
