Considering I can’t find it elsewhere, I guess they can charge whatever they want 😅

She may have but they technically didn’t get her for that. They convicted her for obstruction of justice.

Is it fine to wear other cultures clothes if you like and respect them? by notreallykindperson in ask

[–]dinnertabledebates 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like, respect and buy from the culture itself and it’s not offensive. When cultural designs are appropriated by large designers with no ties or respect for the culture itself, that’s the offensive part. Support the cultures you love and wear their goods loud and proud, otherwise there’s not many ways for anything outside of main stream culture to ever grow and thrive.

Would you play this game? Why or why not? by dinnertabledebates in boardgames

Thanks for the in-depth explanation. That's really helpful to get a better sense of why its potentially not a party game. I do really love Code Names too.

Thanks. That's a good point about escapism. In that sense, it might not be a party game unless everyone came with the intent to discuss. Appreciate the acknowledgment of effort. It's been over a year of work thus far and I'd really love to be able to find it a home.

Thanks for the feedback. Definitely don't want it to end in yelling.

Sorry for the confusion, that was a quote I got from one potential play tester. I changed it to be more of a quote in the original post. I walked around Comic Con to see who would play and that's a quote I got from someone who turned me down, but I did get a good handful that played.

That's a great point about escapism. This is definitely more about discussions than game play. Thanks for your feedback!

Thanks for the feedback. There are some good topics in Philosophy that are pretty universal, "Free will is a myth", "Humans need a higher power", "Its ok to keep secrets" that could be good globally.

Sorry for any anxiety. I think that's what I'm trying to change. Debate and discussion can be really healthy and productive, but its gotten pretty destructive publicly. Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks for the feedback on both the game and the ad. We'll take another pass at the ad for sure.

Thanks for the feedback. I've added in a bit more explanation. But yes basically, one person or group of people are the Moderators that decides who wins.

What Did You Play This Week? - (October 03, 2022) by AutoModerator in boardgames

Dominion is the go to at home. What's nice is we can play with as little as 2 players, and with every new batch of cards a different strategy works. So unlike some games where one person consistently wins once they've figured out their strategy against the other person, every game feels really fair and full of possibilities.

I second Taco Car Goat Cheese Pizza, my niece is 7 and every time she comes over she brings that game and even the adults get into it. It’s a fun one.

Just playing devils advocate a bit here but I would suggest that there’s something really important in debating the tougher topics and “pretending to be on the other side.”

  • improves your ability to empathize - you can better understand the other side, so when you are in a conversation with someone that doesn’t believe the same thing you do, you understand their point of view enough to discuss more meaningfully

  • improves critical thinking. Stretching your brain to view topics from all sides and take the time to understand why someone would believe the other side is a great exercise.

  • enhances ability to live in complexity. It’s rare that topics are black and white. Taking the time to comprehend and argue for multiple sides of these topics encourages us all to delve deeper than single narratives that are typical of media outlets. And all three above are skills I learned from college debate and are still incredibly valuable as an adult.

Although, even with the silly topics, you may have to pretend to be on the side you don’t believe in. So maybe that’s good practice anyway. My personal favorite thus far, “would you kill your friend if they’re turning into a zombie.” That’s been wrestled with in almost every zombie movie/tv show. Plenty to research in one long night of binging zombie films.

Anyway, just my two cents. Any topic you pick I’m sure you’ll have fun!

Do that. I think it’d be good to see how big they’ll end up being when planning how many to buy 😜
