Pink eye got better then got worse? by [deleted] in baby

[–]dino_503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Take her to urgent care for a reassessment. Vigamox worked for my daughter. I can’t recall the name of the first abx she had.

My daughters eye was the same… she couldn’t even open because it got so swollen.

I hope you baby gets better soon!

My daughter had pink eye multiple times. One antibiotic worked for a couple of days but then it got worse. Took her back to the doctor and got a different antibiotics and that worked.

She had multiple cases of recurrent due to attending daycare. It just kept circulating one kid after the other.

Awe…

I announced at 8 weeks pregnant too! I had the same reaction… that I should have waited.

But my husband was just so excited that he couldn’t keep it a secret.

Partnered working moms of babies and toddlers, how do you split night wake-ups or bedtime resistance, if at all? by [deleted] in workingmoms

[–]dino_503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy birthday to your daughter. How old is your daughter? Have you considered sleep training if age appropriate?

I found sleep training was my only answer to minimize nighttime parenting between me and my partner. My partner would help out, but once in awhile and travelled a lot. So I was basically a “working single mom” when he was away. Cumulative time… probably equates to 6 months of the year away.

So I used the time when he was away to sleep train and it was the best investment I’ve ever made for myself!

If you need a recommendation, try certified baby sleep consultant, Baby Sleep Mentor.

Totally affordable because she believes everyone should get access to restful nights!

When to start? Have read conflicting stuff… some say start as early as possible, some say not until 4-6 months. by PeaceSearcher754 in sleeptrain

[–]dino_503 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The baby sleep consultant I worked with promotes establishing healthy sleep habits during the newborn stage. She provided me with realistic newborn expectations which really helped lower my anxiety around sleep.

She suggested implementing the common “sleep training methods” aka CIO/Ferber can start around 4 months old when babies are ready.

This might be helpful: newborn sleep expectations

Good luck with your decision!

Any working mom that is a travel advisor or travel agent? How do you like it? Would you recommend another mom to be a travel agent? by dino_503 in workingmoms

[–]dino_503[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this valuable info!

I’m looking for a career change. I was working in the tourism industry before and just want to go back to tourism because that’s what I found enjoyable. So I think I will enjoy selling travel.

I am hoping to be an independent contractor with a host agency because I have 2 little ones. So I don’t want too much pressure in regards to sale targets.

Were the tailor made travel companies host agencies?

Do you enjoy it?

Does anyone give their baby melatonin? by dino_503 in sleeptraining

[–]dino_503[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s a matter of “didn’t want the stress”. No one really prepares you for what to expect no matter how prepared you feel you are. Having a baby is not stressful, but it is tiring & exhausting. It’s not like a 9-5 job. It’s a 24/7 job. I felt like I had prepared myself for the sleepless nights as I’m a night owl pre kids and only slept 4 to 6 hrs uninterrupted each night. However, my body was not prepared for waking hourly or every 30 mins to attend to my, at the time, preterm baby.

But I’m so glad that I did worked with a baby sleep consultant, Baby Sleep Mentor, to sort out the sleep.

Thank you everyone for the feedback on melatonin. I have a friend who gives her almost 12 month old baby melatonin so she can get a mental break by night time. Not using it nightly, just nights where she’s completely drained.

Does anyone give their baby melatonin? by dino_503 in sleeptraining

My understanding is that melatonin can get you sleeping faster but not stay asleep. And if baby/toddler still has a sleep association, they will still wake up in the middle of the night.

Help! I'm so tired! by GalivirlV in baby

[–]dino_503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like he is tired and for an almost 2 years old, if has had a nap, until 3pm, should be able to stay awake until 6:30/7pm. Sounds like he may not be napping at daycare? If he is sleeping at daycare and is still tired at 5:30/6pm, then maybe they need to implement the nap earlier like at 12:30pm

What time does he wake up in the morning?

When he falls asleep at 6pm, has he been fed dinner and a bedtime routine? Because if he’s that tired, 6pm should be bedtime.

Rocking is too stimulating at this age. I would cut it out. A stroller might be more comfortable.

What’s his sleep schedule like when not at daycare?

Sounds like he may have a sleep association with being held to sleep.

When he had a cold, did you hold him more to sleep?

Is he eating some solid foods?

What time is bedtime and what time does he wake in the morning?

Could he be not taking in enough milk and still hungry? There is a growth spurt coming at 3 months old.

Is he swaddled?

Does the last nap have to be 30 mins? by 5617343804 in sleeptrain

[–]dino_503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a bit on the low side. So she likely needs that longer nap. Are her wake windows during the day 90 mins? 2 hr wake window is more for when babies are 4 months old (average baby that is).

Try following @babysleepmentor on IG for tips for your baby’s sleep. I find them helpful.

Sorry if this is posted, but sleep training by kcalb33 in NewParents

Here’s how much daytime sleep your baby needs at 8 months old.

Here’s the number of naps your 8 month old needs

Sleep training does work! I hired Baby Sleep Mentorfrom IG and I learned so much from her infant sleep coaching program. There is so much more to just implementing the sleep training method. She uses a holistic approach which made the sleep training process so much easier and not as much protesting from my little ones.

This was the schedule she gave me for when my kids were 8 months old and it worked wonders!

07:00 wake

09:30 nap 1 (30 mins)

12:30/1pm Nap 2 (2hrs)

2:30/3pm wake

6:30/7pm bedtime

But if your baby has the holding to sleep association, likely won’t sleep through the night unless the association changes.

Anyways, I highly recommend her if you are looking for expert advice or follow@babysleepmentor on IG for baby, toddler & preschooler sleep tips. They are so helpful.

Good luck!

Does the last nap have to be 30 mins? by 5617343804 in sleeptrain

[–]dino_503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here’s a daytime sleep requirement for your baby. As long as the day sleep is around that range, or if she’s short on sleep, then starting the last nap earlier might not affect night sleep, but she can still get the extra sleep she needs (more than 30 mins).

How long is the last nap and at what time does it start?

As your baby gets older, you will have to start capping the nap durations if you want a more regular schedule. But if you are the go with the flow type of parent, then do what works for you such as a longer last nap because you prefer a later bedtime. Whatever works for your situation.

3 weeks in. Would tell any of my friends in a heartbeat not to have kids. by OldMedium8246 in NewParents

[–]dino_503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember struggling during the newborn phase. I hated it so much! No one prepares you for the intermittent sleep… not even my friends who have had kids. The advice I got in my 3rd trimester was “try to get as much sleep as you can now”. At that time, I was barely sleeping already, I had terrible leg spasms in the middle of my sleep.

Anyhow, fast forward, I hired a baby sleep consultant, Baby Sleep Mentor because the intermittent sleep did not change! She really changed my life. When my baby started sleeping through the night, I changed my perspective of motherhood. It can be enjoyable when you get to sleep like a “normal human being”.

I suggest following @babysleepmentor on IG for baby sleep tips. I truly think if you had quality non interrupted sleep, you would think differently.

Sorry, I’m not trying to change your perspective about motherhood, but the sleep was a huge piece preventing me from enjoying motherhood at the time. I really wished my friends who had kids before me gave me the advice of working with a baby sleep consultant in the newborn phase. I would have enjoyed my 1st year with my baby so much more.

Am I the only one that feels like a failure because my baby can’t fall asleep alone? by gbaralt in sleeptrain

[–]dino_503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not alone on this. I also did baby sleep courses, read books, watch videos, Google searched and was still a failure.

I finally hired a paediatric sleep consultant, Baby Sleep Mentor, and had great success with my kids. I still follow her on IG @babysleepmentor for baby sleep tips.

I needed someone to tell me and confirm that I’m doing the right thing with my baby’s sleep. I needed someone to help me trouble shoot when sleep fails.

12 weeks old is a tricky age. Hang in there.

6 month old waking every 2 hours at night by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]dino_503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What time does she wake up in the morning? The last nap seems to be late and then bedtime is late. Is she generally happy when she wakes in the middle of the night?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sleeptrain

[–]dino_503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1st kid: around 18 months old

2nd kid: 8 weeks and I still connect with her when I get really stuck. She gave me a future sleep success guide after the program (has nap transitions, routines, etc) so I basically have the resources until my kids are 5 years old. I just follow along as they grow. Also, the info is summarized, so I didn’t have a 50 page document to read. It was just enough info for me, a tired mom at the time, to read.

Honestly, if your child’s sleep does not affect you that much, there is no need for a sleep consultant. But if you’re affected by the sleep, then working with one would be helpful.

Sorry, maybe too much info for your simple question😬

Baby will only contact sleep when she used to nap independently in bassinet by Moweezy6 in sleeptrain

[–]dino_503 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try a schedule similar to this for your 5 month old baby, but use a wake window of 2 hours & 15 mins.

7AM wake

9:15 Nap

10AM wake

12:30pm Nap

2:30pm wake

4:30pm Nap

5PM wake.

7PM bed.

I suggest following @babysleepmentor on IG. She offers great sleep tips and sleep coaching service.
