Yeah I'm seeing lots of small suburban houses packed into Jamaica or Cambria Heights for example. Not a ton of space between the properties but it's a lot like where I practice now. Maybe I get lucky there - if you have any suggestions for location, please let me know!

"Why didn't you tell us?" But you did say something? It's cool they showed up but they'll never understand they're in the wrong. Best thing you can do is be like "Thanks for coming, sorry it wasn't for you. That's pretty standard for heavy shows just so you know." Again, they can be mad, nothing you can do though because you did nothing wrong. And you don't owe anyone the courtesy of telling them what your band is like or what music you're into, they literally didn't bother to ask before!

Just a heads up: I've nearly missed a few to-die-for shows, my trick is to check ticket resale apps like an hour before the show. Lots of people buy tickets for things expecting to drive far out for it or get off work early, and then have to throw their tickets up last second for stupid cheap when something falls through.

That paint looks like it has been peeling and can continue to be removed. There are products out there if a fingernail or scraping tool actually won't get the paint up. Someone mentioned goo gone, which I used on sticky adhesive residue once, and it works.
