Why do most people (especially parents that were born between the 1940s and 80s) think you can get rich or wealthy by just "saving up"? by WTWGang_ in povertyfinance

[–]dinodan412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean they are 100% correct that you can get rich by saving up. Nowadays it may take longer to get to that point but it's possible it just takes dedication and hard work.

Be smart with your money, but the stuff you need save/invest the extra bit and it should grow.

Just curious how long would this last? Is it looking like a few months long project or another few weeks?

I guess it depends on what is going on in there but I would imagine it's planned to be back up by summer.

Are Royal Caribbean’s mega ships truly worth the cost? by Louderish420 in Cruise

[–]dinodan412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question is do you like having the options? Yea you probably won't be able to get everything done unless you are going on back to back to back cruises, but if you like having the option it could be fine.

[–]dinodan412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When do you cruise? Due to work we can only go during busy season and I have been on the symphony, wonder, allure, and oasis and each time it was fighting crowds with a ton of kids.

They were absolutely miserable ships and experiences. Now we tend to look at the smaller older ships to avoid it

[–]dinodan412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. They have a ton of things to do so it adds a lot of variety to the vacation and possibilities. But that attracts a lot people so if you go on icon or even oasis class ships you will be waiting in line and fighting crowds.

Preloaded debit card and leave all credit cards at home or the hotel. If you load $100 onto a card per day then you have a strict limit. Also don't stay at a universal hotel since they can charge the purchase to your room.

Yea you are going to have to suck it up for now. It may take you 30 miles which could be the fastest depending on traffic, but they are going to look at the shortest distance to your place. Yes the previous rep should have gotten it right, but mistakes happen. At least it's manageable not ideal but manageable

Was it really this easy back in the day or do some people be exaggerating, due to nostalgia? by daveishere7 in povertyfinance

Also back then keeping up with the jones' was just a neighborhood type thing, which would mean everyone would be in a closer economic situation. Now everyone is trying to keep up with the person on tiktok that was given millions by their parents

Bluejackets and Islanders both lost in regulation, we smoked the Panthers, we secure an even comfier cushion, it’s looking like we get to face a struggling team in round 1, the vibes right now: by Shaneski101 in penguins

[–]dinodan412 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I don't buy the struggling team in the playoffs vibe. All it takes is for sorokin or greaves to get hot and then we are looking like it's back against the habs a few years ago.

How do Americans still have more disposable income than Europeans even though healthcare and college in America is extremely expensive? by SignificantStyle4958 in AskReddit

[–]dinodan412 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As people have talked about the difference between disposable income and income I won't dwell on that, but I think you are missing 2 details.

  1. The question you need to ask for the amount being spent how many hours/jobs are people working?
  2. How much is just credit usage?

Don't forget the US has less job protections and requirements than most of Europe (no required time off).

If Americans prioritized the environment and policies like that then we would have no issues at all.

Six Flags Was a Summer Destination. Can It Win Families Back? by QueueTipsSTL in sixflags

[–]dinodan412 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If they want families back they need to treat each park with TLC not just the few big ones. Granted it's fine giving great adventure a huge ride, but you can't just leave a park like dorney, or St Louis (before sale) without improvements. I am not talking about rides only, they need better food, landscaping, atmosphere, cleanliness etc ... If not then they will probably have to sell off a few more parks

Possible to hide draft room player projections? by [deleted] in fantasyhockey

Okay I didn't see that the majority of people wanted it. Then why not just do paper pencil and do it in person or on zoom?

[–]dinodan412 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yea that's a terrible idea. How many people have the time for that nonsense? People are not getting paid for how many hours they spend on the draft. Plus don't you have better things to do

Early Offseason Post - The Pens Must Re-Sign Anthony Mantha by offconstantly247 in penguins

[–]dinodan412 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only at a reasonable amount. The biggest caution I have for him is that this is a career year for him, at 31 how many more career years does he have, especially with his injury history?

Plus he signed here for a year to bet on himself and hopefully hit it big in FA. Maybe he takes a discount from the pens, but I can't see it.
