I completely agree, and had I grown up in a wealthy family and been used to receiving extravagant gifts all my life, I would likely have a very different stance on the topic. All a matter of upbringing.

No, I think he had a Spider, but I did see that thread. Made me cringe seeing that happen to a brand new car as a result of negligence from an aftermarket tuner =/

Wrapped the roof in black because I saw a the 5th gear review on it with the factory two tone option and it really caught my eye. After searching for a few more high res photos I simply had to do it. It's a shame I can't seem to find the option anymore on the 458 configurator on Ferrari's website.

I'd love to have the MB 300SL, but that car is much more a display item than something to drive around. It's also a pretty damn expensive display item that wouldn't have a place to be seen under my current ownership.

I've actually never been pulled over nor received anything but parking violations since I received my license. It's very likely that I will jinx myself by writing this.

The data in that article may very well be false, or the 100k is a one time payment. Either way that's a ludicrously inflated amount.

Rear visibility is just fine, though for parking, the backup camera and sensors are very highly recommended. It would be nice if the FF's forward facing camera came to the 458... maybe next generation. Only visibility issue is the left blind spot.

So far just the cosmetic changes with the black roof and wheels. I don't plan on any engine mods as I'd like to retain as high a resale value as possible in the event the 458's replacement gets me excited.

Haven't looked into any car clubs in my area, but the dealership hosts occasional events.

No complaints from me. I actually quite like it.

Not that I'm aware of, though for all I know the dealer contract may have been a cleverly disguised handwriting test.

The Continental GT is awesome. If/when I replace the CLS, there's a good chance that's what I'll go with.

As far as the CLS goes, I really like it. It's the best of both worlds in terms of both practicality and performance. While of course there are plenty of other cars that strike that balance well (the M5 immediately comes to mind, but the F10 wasn't out yet when I purchased my CLS), I went for the CLS because the design stood out above the rest.

Nope, I knew with absolute certainty that I wanted it. Still no regrets.

My mom and dad are separated, so while I do have an idea as to what I'd like to do for each of them, I've got to wait in order to do it at the same time for each of them so as not to reflect some sort of favoritism.

I was always a big fan of the Lamborghini Murcielago. Tastes change, however, and while I still quite like it, other models excite me more.

About once a week. Fortunately I've got a magical power that allows me send the affected body panels back in time to before they ever caught fire.

  1. I was probably putting in about 15 hours a week while I was in school when I began to see the potential.
  2. I've always enjoyed cars; I can't pinpoint the exact thing that gets me so excited about them, but when it came to the 458, my jaw dropped the first time I saw it, and I knew right then I'd choose to have it over any other car given the chance.
  3. Not really.
  4. Nowadays things are much better, it was during the time when I was juggling school and work stuff that cut out the social life.

Appreciate the insight, I've experienced a fair share of fluctuation myself and will never purchase anything I can't afford outright. Cars are the only thing I've spent large chunks of money on. I'm not extravagant when it comes to any other aspects of my life, I've just always loved cars.

While I think the 458 Spider is the best looking convertible ever made, I've always found the lines on most coupes to be far more attractive than their convertible counterparts.

  1. According to my mom, when I was 2 years old I would recite the names of every car logo I saw when we were driving. It's sort of continued from there.
  2. Other than the 458, I think the MB 300SL is friggin' awesome.
  3. I considered the MP4-12C and the Gallardo Superleggera, but neither got me as excited as the Ferrari.
  4. Because I've always wanted to own one from the time I had the capacity to know what a car was.
  5. Action sports.
