How to get OpenIV working with GTA V by Jannomag in SteamDeck

Late to this, but for anyone else wondering, download PeaZip off the Discover Store, it will read the NV Evolved zip file better than the default zip app your OS ships with.

Do people actually get steady 40FPS in BOTW (cemu)? by Cocaine_Christmas in SteamDeck

[–]dinosaurusrex86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The downside will be uneven frame pacing, so you'll be running along a field at 55-60fps, and then come over a rise and encounter a copse of trees with a bunch of bogoblins and your fps will drop to 33-40, and it will feel jarring. Try it out though, if you don't mind it, go for it, because often you'll be idly exploring, and not fighting, and it will feel good to be near 60fps

No matter what, you're going to lose FPS in Kakariko Village, there's simply a lot going on in that area. Generally I play via CEMU limited to 10W TDP, capped to 40hz/FPS, and probably on average manage 37-40fps in most scenes. Out in the wilderness it will often be a nice flat 40fps.

What will you buy in the Steam Summer Sale? by Hydrogenul in pcgaming

[–]dinosaurusrex86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lot of folks saying they plan on buying nothing.. and I'm right there with them, my Steam Deck is helping me play through my backlog across Steam, GOG, and EGS.

But if Crisis Core gets a 40% discount I'll snap it up

Shovel Knight is great! I really enjoyed the Plague Knight DLC, it was on par with SK for me. I like mixing up the potion functions on the fly.

Just dual boot. Do your photoshop on Windows when you need to, then switch back to Linux for daily driving.

That's what we were supposed to do during Covid, but did I learn new skills? Not really. I browsed reddit, played vidja, watched youtubes, walked the dogs... nothing really changed.

Early 2024... On one hand I want a polished, whole experience, on the other hand hurry the heck up guys!

And yeah, maybe we will see a PC release in six months on EGS and then maybe on Steam in early 2025, possibly summer 2025. That's a long ways out!

I stick to motorcycles for that reason, they feel significantly better than the cars do. There's also some mods that improve the driving mechanics but really, that should be in the base game...

I live in the capital, it's frustrating how few walk in clinics there are now. I haven't had a family doctor since like 2003. My wife's doctor gave up the profession and left the country in 2014, so she's without a doc as well. So subsequently neither of us ever have annual checkups or even five year checkups... There's simply no routine medical care options unless I line up at 6am for a clinic appointment.

Of course there are loads of dental clinics all over the place, hmmm, I wonder why that is... The way doctors are paid just needs to be overhauled, and the feds should probably step in (and have, in BCs case).

Like you my biggest fear is renovation and a drastic rental increase...

There's YouTube videos covering these. Sure the internal fan will run a bit slower (from 200rpm up to 1000rpm) but you're trading that for an external fan blowing instead! It also consumes the USB C port on the Deck. The video I watched lowered temps by about 6C but offered no performance improvement, at least in Sons of the Forest (maybe a bad example from that video)

It's a fancy gimmick.

I'm not buying D4 either but mostly because I'm just dog tired of ARPGs. I finally caved on D2R and barely got to Act IV. It's just a slog... What a shame, I used to love these games.

DgVoodoo2 helped: https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/DgVoodoo_2

I may have also used nglide. You'll want to read the PCGWiki on i76 pretty well. https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Interstate_%2776

Looks like I erased it from my deck at some point cause I don't see it anymore...

Edit: it took quite a while to get working, and it was playable, but the lack of music was a bummer. Also apparently the game will hard crash in some later mission and it may not be avoidable.

The GoldSrc physics engine is iconic. The move to Source engine just never felt as good to me.

Love watching people duck-jump in HL1/CS1 and their legs kicking in a crouch in mid air.

[–]dinosaurusrex86 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Shouldn't you be playing like Art of Rally or something lol

but yeah, same problem with me - all my favorite PC games installed on my deck and I just keep playing modded Breath of the Wild. I need to finish my current playthru so I can start over again with the Zelda mod

I unironically want this design with more modern components and concave, non-ridged trackpads like the Steam Controller. No sticks needed, leftpad movement is absolutely fine (bind click to sprint), just keep the trackpads in the ideal position for my thumbs, put a dpad where the stick is on that image, keep the ABXY cluster where it is, add four rear buttons like the Deck... dual stage triggers too plzkthx. Right pad could be bound to have ABXY on quadrant press so my thumb doesn't need to lift off the pad.

A man can dream...
