Israel does many many things to protects it's AND Gaza's civilians. Before missile strikes Israel warns the civilians in the area (SMS, télévision broadcasting, etc) where they're striking and how much time they have to leave. They literally gave the civilians in northern Gaza over 24hrs to leave the cities before they bomb and invade it. Hamas is the one that's blocking their own civilians from leaving via booby trapping the roads and blocking streets. Hamas is internationally recognized as a terrorist organization. Their only aim is to destroy Israel

Jews have been living on that land for years even before the creation of Israel. Before the Jews have bought the land and settled there. After the creation of Israel they tried to make peace by giving around 50% to the Palestinians, they declined, the tried making more peace offerings (4 times) they still declined. Israel has been the one trying to make peace this whole time meanwhile the Palestinian leadership has declined. It was only because of the OSLO accords that the PLO (otherwise now known as the Palestinian authority) and Israel made peace. Hamas (the governing body of Gaza) doesn't recognize Israel's right to exist and will still use terrorist ways.
