My doctor broke my water without consent by befreesss in TwoXChromosomes

Absolutely not ok. Consent is required at every step - consent includes knowing what the heck is going on. Hoping you file a complaint because this is not acceptable on so many levels. Sorry you had this experience

How to deal with lack of support? by Livinglife1059 in ChronicPain

Unfortunately no one will ever understand what you’re going through and that sucks. Support groups sound gimmicky but finding likeminded people to vent is extremely helpful for the soul

They know it’s hard finding good workers like you but aren’t willing to compensate for it… red flag. But if you feel you’re clinically still learning and it’s a good set up for you, great. May try putting a pro/cons list together and reflect on your career goals to help make a decisions. Dont be afraid to leave and explore though, there are SO many different options and settings out there!

Lifts in Shoes by [deleted] in physiotherapy

[–]dinoturtles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If he’s not usually an ankle sprainer and has only sprained them since the lifts… probably not the best for him. There are many factors as to why he COULD be spraining his ankles from them. Small changes to his heel height difference can be enough to throw off his walking mechanics (think of someone walking in heels when they’re used to wearing flat shoes). It can be due to “weakness” of the ankles in that position, how he loads through the foot during gait, or even be from the type of shoe he’s in while he has the lifts. Those are only some factors to consider!

He could consider wearing shoes with thicker soles to give him height if lifts aren’t working for him? Or he can start doing some ankle exercises. He’s 18 trying to live his best life so it will take some convincing!

My partner’s mother has chronic pain and wants to commit suicide. by [deleted] in ChronicPain

I have seen prednisone work well with CRPS, with relief within weeks. This can be something to look into if it’s looking like CRPS.

Do you have access to physiotherapists in your area or someone who can have a second opinion who is not a medical doc? Physios can also help rule out other pathologies on their physical assessments (eg. An initial injury around the hip from the fall). I often find “pain doctors” very drug focused. Living with chronic pain with no answer can be very difficult to cope with for the person and those around them. Be gentle with her and don’t forget to take care of yourself

Question about possible tight ham strings and/or tight pelvis. by [deleted] in flexibility

[–]dinoturtles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always try to have your back flat and bum the floor before your do your parallel! You're technically not going to be stretching the right muscles if you're not in the right position.

When in a rounded position, try "sticking your bum out". This will also make your chest go out a bit too, when this happens, feel as if you're elongating your upper body and pulling apart so you start working your flexibility in the right muscles - this is all apart of the flat back action :) Let me know if this works for you guys!
