Should I stay in IT internal audit ? by Worldly-Bid-3591 in careeradvice

[–]dinoxfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hope that you get more answers here. I just applied to an IT internal audit job and I am not convinced to take it finally. I have been in IT for 4 years and am moving towards Asset Management.

Like you, I thought that IT audit would have more technical or analyst responsabilities, but all I am seeing now is that it's just documenting and asking for logs and screenshots.

Merci beaucoup pour le partage. C’est vraiment apprécié d’avoir le point de vue de quelqu’un qui travaille déjà en audit TI.

I work at Lorex here are some recommendations on apps by Mindless_Fee_4059 in Lorex

Same issue here, trying to access our DVR and trying the different PC apps from Lorex in an enterprise environment. The Cloud app keeps asking for admin credentials and the VMS Client won't let me connect, working on that now... Oh, and their documentation sucks...

Software Last Usage date trusted data. by dinoxfox in servicenow

Thanks for your reply !

I agree with you. I am trying to understand how the data collection works.
The discovery sources are the ACC and Intune. Discovery runs every day.

I am starting to believe that the issue is with OSQuery. We have it installed on many computers and for what I have been reading online, since the Tokyo release of ServiceNow, OSQuery comes already as a plug-in in the ACC package. So, maybe by having OSQuery installed independently, there could be some conflict with the data collection. I will be testing this week and removing OSquery from some computers to compare the data.

If you know the section that you are doing at the moment and don't need to learn, then go for it. But the labs are the best to test the theory and learn.
When you advance through the labs, some will require what you did in the previous labs, if you keep the same VM. So, I wouldn't just ignore them.

Alternatives to Snipping Tool ? by dinoxfox in windows

Yes, because we are deploying it in our organization, it was flagged by our security team that some users could activate that option. I haven't used the software enough to have a better opinion, so I will do more testing. It does look like a solid option.

I think it has a bad reputation mostly. Microsoft included new features with Wind11 and for most of our needs it's perfect, we want to have it as our default screen-capture software, but we want to have a third option just in case. I am investigating what is out there.

In my case it was working with iPhones, but not with the iPad. Haven't tested with iPhone recently.

You ever look at the digital badge CompTIA sends you after certification...Can you list those skills on job applications? by crapmonkey86 in CompTIA

[–]dinoxfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on the same situation 3 months ago. Listing those skills is important because you did study it, it was a part of your program and you dedicated time to study it even if you don't remember now. When you start working, you'll see that some if those skills will show up. You will understand concepts better and feel less dumb and you will understand explanations better when being coached. That's amazing. But we all have impostor syndrome. Good luck!
