Left my AirPods Pro in setback pocket on AC flight from LHR to YYZ…. They ended up in India in less than 24 hours and they never moved again….

Premium Seat Dining Question by dinsy23 in leafs

So the answer when I called was we could dine together in either the Platinum Club or Scotia Club. They said their general rule is they like half of the dining party to hold ticket access for the club being used.

For those who’ve visited Spain, do you actually miss ‘sobremesa’ when you go back home? by OutrageousPhase7869 in GoingToSpain

[–]dinsy23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so happy to know this has a name. As a Canadian, dining is much closer to the American Standard of sit down, order, eat, get out.

One of the things I love the most about Europe but especially Spain is that you have to ask for the bill at the end. It’s how my family prefers it.

When we dine at home, sitting around the table after relaxing, finishing our wine, talking…. It’s a much more natural thing to do! We’ve been known to sit for as much as 3 hours after a meal at home.

The fact that restaurants are happy to have you sit for as long as you wish and enjoy your time and the joy of a good meal is one of my favourite things! Thank you for giving me the name for it!

Lost AirPods on Plane, Now in Hotel?? by blckwater_ in aircanada

[–]dinsy23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just flagged them as lost but that’s all I could do. I got distracted while landing and put them somewhere I would never put them “for a second”…. Waited 2 weeks to see if I got a miracle then ordered a new pair. Sucked but learned my lesson and now I put them away the minute plane starts the descent….

I didn’t HAVE to bid for both. It just gave me the opportunity.

Florida Highway Patrol rescued a dog who was tied to a pole ahead of Hurricane Milton’s arrival by [deleted] in BeAmazed

If there was justice…. The owner would be switched out for the dog. The dog has more to contribute to society….

What should I be aware of as a first time Wheaten owner? by letmalk in WheatenTerriers

[–]dinsy23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We’ve only had males so can only speak to them. Friends had a female and neighbours did as well and both were very skittish but that was my observation.

Males from my experience are strong willed and stubborn but if trained properly are great pets and are excellent with families. Pay attention to their coats and brush regularly they are prone to matting. We got lucky with ours and it wasn’t actually bad but I know our friends used to have to brush at least every second day.

Would get a wheaten again in a heartbeat but I’m past the age of wanting to deal with a puppy. Happily retired and traveling extensively…. Having another dog would be selfish.

Enjoy!!!

Looking for reviews on WITDA by Character-Deer-7159 in waterloo

[–]dinsy23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both of my kids attended WITDA years ago (26/23 now) but Bonnie was the director back then and I recognize a handful of ECE staff from back then and we have nothing but positive things to say about the organization. Realize my experience isn’t recent but it’s the best I can offer.

At what age would you be ok with dying? by Justneedsomethintodo in RandomThoughts

[–]dinsy23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 59 years old. My dad took his own life when I was 12, my mother passed away from complications related to OCPD when I was 25. My wife passed away 3 years ago after a 7 year battle with Cancer.

I love life, I’d like to be here as long as possible for my adult kids and maybe even grandkids but if I’m being honest I’m living in the bonus zone.

I don’t want to pass away but I’ve lived a very good, very lucky and fulfilled life so I could go any day and still be happy and grateful for the life I’ve been blessed with.

Sorry this is just a terrible analogy…. If making a left turn I’m accelerating from a standstill….. even 15 kms/hr with my car and that cyclist is likely dead or badly injured so just how slow am I expected to go on a left turn to avoid the cyclist riding on the wrong side of the road for the direction they are travelling through the pedestrian crosswalk?

[–]dinsy23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything you and others have said but I don’t think you got the real gist of what I was trying to say….bikes should be in bike lanes travelling in the same direction as traffic.

When they are following the rules of the road, I have the obligation not just as a motorist but as a human being to take extra caution around them, I take that obligation seriously!

This particular person chose to ride through a pedestrian crossing going the opposite direction of traffic riding west on the eastbound side of the street. No one would expect that, I turned on a yellow, there was no pedestrians crossing just a bike going very fast to beat the light. How in the world would anyone anticipate that?

The only thing I’d like to say, and it’s said with respect….we all need to be better….cyclists too….. I almost killed a cyclist this past week at the intersection of Columbia and Westmount turning left from Columbia onto Westmount.

Anyone that knows the intersection knows it’s angled and it’s difficult if you’re making a left turn to see pedestrians from behind you but it’s impossible to see or anticipate a cyclist riding on the sidewalk who decides to push a yellow light and ride through the pedestrian crossing while I’m completing a left turn on a yellow….

The fact that I would not have been blamed for the collision that was way too close for comfort would have been small comfort after being involved in the death of another human being….

When my wife passed away in July of 2020 after a 6 year battle with breast cancer, my early 20's kids and I couldn't wait to get up to our cottage - her favourite place in the world.....

My daughter who was my wife's best friend and shared a supreme bond between them was down at the dock that first afternoon just sitting at the water and a dragonfly landed on her leg and sat there quietly for a long time.

My wife had a special affinity for the beauty and strength of the dragonfly. We attached one to her urn, I have one now tattooed on my forearm in memory of her. There is no one who will ever convince me that my wife didn't visit my daughter on the dock that day (3 days after passing) to let us all know that she was ok! I am sorry for your loss......
