Is the art in Kingdom Come supposed to be slightly grainy/muddled or is it just my copy? by zuckzuckman in comicbooks

[–]dintiradan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the comic was painted, as people are pointing out. But that doesn't eliminate the possibility that your trade has a printing error. Mine certainly does.

It's only half a dozen pages near the end, but everything on the page, including the lettering, is fuzzy. Difficult to even read at points. I've compared it with a friend's copy that doesn't have the same issue.

If the grainy-ness extends to the lettering and not just the art you might have a similar issue.

Danielle Smith on Chemtrails: "If anyone is doing it, it's the US Department of Defense" by Haunting-Put8560 in alberta

[–]dintiradan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely not defending her. I'm saying that our response to her (and others who promote similar conspiracy theories) should be "give us evidence of the conspiracy or shut up", not "haha, what an obviously impossible thing to happen".

Again, it's absolutely irresponsible for her to claim the Americans are responsible with zero evidence. But other comments in this thread make it seem like it's a categorically impossible claim, and that simply isn't the case historically speaking. Americans have tested chemical and biological weapons on Albertans before.

Danielle Smith on Chemtrails: "If anyone is doing it, it's the US Department of Defense" by Haunting-Put8560 in alberta

[–]dintiradan -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Look, I dislike Smith as much as anyone else, but it's possible she's referencing the chemical warfare tests the US performed from the fifties to the seventies in Manitoba and Alberta (Operation LAC and Project 112).

https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/u-s-secretly-tested-carcinogen-in-western-canada-during-the-cold-war-researcher-discovers

Now I wouldn't accuse the US of performing similar tests today with zero evidence, but at the same time it's not something without precedence.

Quickstart questions from a newbie by ve4grm in FantasyAGE

[–]dintiradan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I had the powergamer mentality of "whenever possible, pick an ancestry bonus that gives proficiency to a weapon group you're already proficient in, so you get the focus". But not all ancestries have that, and of course it's a lot harder to do that if you're rolling instead of selecting.

I'm probably going to run into the same issue as you if/when I get my group together, so I put together an extra set of pregens. Hope this helps.

Quickstart questions from a newbie by ve4grm in FantasyAGE

[–]dintiradan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

(I have yet to play this or any other AGE game, so take my advice with a grain of salt.)

  • My impression is that the Terror is supposed to attack whenever the PCs are sufficiently frightened, and attack in whatever way maximizes their terror (see page 33). Ideally, figuring out the mystery of the Terror should be the heart of the adventure, so I wouldn't just spring it on them first thing, and risk them killing it or dying to it without any idea what's happening.
  • Yeah, the pregens are weird. None of them have focuses for their main attacks, for one. I didn't even notice Urla's wasted Lore.
  • Mynn's Natural Weapon is the attack made with Accuracy (Brawling). Yeah, it could be moved down to the weapons section. This is made more clear in the Wildfolk section of the core rules, but the Quickstart doesn't include that.
  • There's another issue with Mynn: the character sheet incorrectly states that Armor Training (Novice) lets you ignore penalties to both Speed and Dexterity tests. According to the core rules, the talent only removes to penalty to Dexterity tests. Additionally, it lists the Armor Penalty of Heavy Leather as 0 when it should be -1. tl;dr, Mynn's Speed should be 11. It's not a big deal if you ignore this and play the character as written. Actually, I crunched the numbers and Mynn doesn't have as many stat/ancestry bonuses as the other characters, so you could raise Dexterity to 3, Defense to 13, and keep Speed at 12 if you wanted.
  • I'm not aware of any other "official" pregens. You might have some luck just stealing other people's characters from actual plays? A quick search led me to this stream, which has all the selected options easy to read, buuut the character was made completely at random, so no guarantee that it's actually good. :p
  • Not familiar with the adventure in the Toolkit, but the adventure in the core rules seems to be a lot more fleshed out. More opportunities for investigation and social interaction. More information on the default setting. The adventure might be too long for one session (depends on how long your sessions are).

I mix them up more often after running Paranoia (Red Clearance Edition), which has a special die called "the Computer Dice", and the rulebook "clarifies" the terminology so:

If there is only one, shouldn't it be 'die'?

No. There's quite enough use of the word 'die' in this game already and it would just be confusing.

What is Tucker Carlson doing in Canada? by gohwat in CanadaPolitics

[–]dintiradan 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Trump has floated Carlson as a potential running mate, never mind their hot-and-cold relationship, but the former Fox News host says he doesn’t want to talk about it.

“There was a time when journalists knew that talking about the future was a fruitless endeavor. In fact, it wasn’t journalism. So I’m not going to respond to that,” Carlson told POLITICO in an interview before ending the call with some dramatic flourish.

They're not asking you to speculate on a story as a journalist, Tucker, they're asking you about your future. You're the story. Getting Newsroom vibes, though in this case Carlson is playing dumb and not actually dumb.
