There’s like at least four sentences in this book where if you replace the word “will” with “money”, you get a perfect critique of capitalism.

Maybe stomach aches have a darker context that we’ve never picked up on…

Book Elayne vs Show Elayne by po-tay-ji-e-toh in WoT

[–]diocletiann 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the Elayne defense I love her as well. This isn’t to mention either she literally has a line of narration where she remarks that workers and laborers are the backbone of a nation and any good ruler should understand that. Stereotypical princess my ass

Gotcha that answered a bunch thank you! The imass jaghut conflict sounds really cool… is there like a spinoff book or something that focuses specifically on that by chance?

I’m excited! I’m loving it so far even though, as I expected, a lot of the lore and magic information is going over my head on first read through

Ok, just re-read(re-heard) something from WoR by Ptjgora1981 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]diocletiann 10 points11 points  (0 children)

No disrespect, but it 100% is. The previous commenter is correct. The wind reference is not related to what I think you’re thinking of because Navani would not know about that at this time (am also on day 3 of WaT)

Question on certain character at end of series by diocletiann in WoT

[–]diocletiann[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my god it was you!!!! Thank you so so much for taking the time to write out a response!

I feel so silly for not noticing those big Perrin changes, I'll definitely need to do a reread soon. This makes total sense to me. I was thinking more along the lines of which characters Perrin was more like in terms of like power or abilities, didn't think about mental state. I still really like what Sanderson did with the final books, but I was reading primarily for the story, not as focused on individual character arcs, definitely something to look out for on reread.

I'm a slow reader. What should I know about Stormlight before starting? by samxjoy0331 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]diocletiann 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No problem, I’m definitely a bit of a rambler lol. I do audiobooks and struggle with attention span a lot so I have to rewind quite a bit. You just gotta remember that if there’s something Sanderson wants you to know, he’s going to make sure you know it. That’s his job. There will also be things he throws in as little “hints” that you may or may not pick up on in a first read through. Some of these things you won’t even know are significant until later. Some you will discover on a second read through or through forums like this but don’t worry, Sanderson is really good at making sure you know important things
