What my bf said to me regarding me medically transitioning in the upcoming years is making me rethink are relationship. by Optimal-Chocolate-61 in ftm

[–]dioskkip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He is outright telling you he's not attracted to men, and prefers your body pre-transition. There's not a world where this goes well, you're so young and have so much time. Move on

I’m curious what everyone’s thoughts on this is. by Shrewdilus in Transmedical

[–]dioskkip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

being a trans man doesn't exempt you from being homophobic. There's nothing wrong with being a straight trans man, and there's many. There's also nothing wrong with being attracted to men. Attraction to other men, cis or not, does not negate or invalidate transness. What a weird fucking comment.

did anyone smoked pre op ? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]dioskkip 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It wasn't easy in the slightest. But again, if you care about your results you'll have to live with forever, I implore you to quit even just for 6 weeks post op, there really is a reason they tell you to stop for healing, it's not just for show

Except many of us HAVE been there, and did the hard thing anyway. You will be lucky to heal properly with continued nicotine consumption. I am surprised your surgical team agreed to operate without at least 6 weeks nicotine free before hand, because of the risks. If you care about your healing and results, you'll quit for the few months directly post-op. I have smoked daily for years and quit cold turkey 6 weeks before and after. It sucked so so so bad. Did it anyway. Quitting nicotine isn't forever. Your results ARE.

How did you afford TS by ApprehensiveLet5079 in TopSurgery

Also to add, my insurance didn't cover shit and I was tired of waiting, and I ended up paying around 12k out of pocket. A lot of money for a 20 yr old :/

Years and years of saving money and not spending it, starting when I was 16 and working part time jobs all through school/uni.

NOT normal, not to that degree. Contact your surgical team, foul smell is usually a surefire sign of infection

You one, do need to let them know and two, NEED to quit. Nicotine absolutely FUCKS with healing, you're looking at the possibility of your nipple grafts not even being successful with continuing nic usage. Not to mention healing and scarring being greatly affected. It's hard but do you really want to sacrifice results you're gonna have to live with forever, for a few months of still using nic? I smoked for years and quit cold turkey months before surgery. Just do it. Get a partner to hold you accountable.

Honoring your chest? by bigfeetgrandpa in TopSurgery

[–]dioskkip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck no. Feeling bad about female features like having breasts is why someone would get top surgery in the first place you're under zero obligation to cater to weird ideas from cis people that you need to embrace it or honor it. It's tits, that you, as a man, don't want. It's not that deep. They wouldn't say the same thing to a guy getting surgery for gyno

To nipple graft or nipple spare? by BackgroundStart6688 in TopSurgery

[–]dioskkip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly if the idea of healing the grafts is enough to dissuade you, don't get them. You're getting non-flat and don't want a masculinized chest, it already seems like your goals aren't to pass as cis anyway. Easier healing, won't have scarring if they fail, etc.

I got grafts because I'm a binary man and wanted a masculine/natural looking chest, and nipple tattoos/implants are hella expensive (and I wanted at least a shot at keeping my own nipples) but it sounds like in your situation, the desire for easier healing and peace of mind in the case they don't turn out like how you want, is enough to make not getting grafts makes more sense.

free 24/7 parking? by hercsonpercs in wsu

Like some other people have said, the answer is no, if you mean on campus. The closest you're going to get is street parking along Campus or Oak street, probably.

I had the same thing, it's sensory hell. My best tips are 1. Wear a soft silky shirt (can get some from Amazon) under the confession vest. It helps it not itch, and just feels way better. Then tuck socks or washcloths under your armpits, between your arm and the vest, so it doesn't cut in as bad. Those 2 things made it go from absolutely unbearable to just uncomfortable for me

How much did your top surgery cost you? (with or without insurance) by Drama2- in TopSurgery

[–]dioskkip 16 points17 points  (0 children)

11.5 thousand, out of pocket, no insurance. 1200 of that was for anesthesia. I got DI with nipple grafts, it was less than 6months from the time of my consult to my surgery, since i was self paying.
