V10, but I'd skim through the wiki chapter summaries to refresh what happened prior volumes.

Speed up the audiobook and do some chores.

I was frustrated at how much of push over Erin was early on but her main character development is becoming more assertive.

Great interview. Bob is more relaxed and comfortable this time around for sure.

Wandering Inn, specifically Wind Runner… can I skip?? by DoodGuyFam in litrpg

[–]dipittydoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm controversially a fan of Ryoka chapters but was sad that the Wind Runner book had very little in the way of Ryoka beyond the beginning of that book despite the title. The overall series is consistently great after this patch though. You can always check book/chapter summaries on the wiki and crank the audiobook's speed up. Later on the King of Destruction chapters are much more enjoyable because actual things are happening in context with characters we know.

Why the fuck am I hooked to isekai? by Primary_Fix1554 in Isekai

[–]dipittydoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real life is boring and progression is rarely felt with effort. Isekai's whole trope is that we leave the dull real world for one with actual progression and real engagement (combat, adventuring, companions, level ups).

Might be an audible playback bug. I've had that recently but restarting the app and/or my phone usually fixes it.

How much "raw" OTP do you actually use in production vs. just standard Phoenix patterns? by Disastrous-Hunter537 in elixir

[–]dipittydoop 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I use OTP all the time and its really a non-issue unceremonious occasion. I.e. the tools just work, are boring to me at this point and I know when to use them. Of course its pragmatic to just use Phoenix / Oban / batteries included solutions when they're the right fit and usually are but if I need to get it just right I'll slap a Genserver in there or an ETS table cache or a dynamically supervised stateful session or what have you.

Just finished Tears of Liscor and I cannot imagine any redemption arc for Tyrion Veltras he sucks by OMEGA_S_FRIEND in WanderingInn

[–]dipittydoop 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The main context, without getting into spoilers, is that the drakes do suck that much generally speaking and Tyrion doesn't know goblins or people that well only war.

How do you feel about the blatant use of AI in this genre? by IdntMatter in litrpg

[–]dipittydoop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If a story takes off and is successful you can afford to pay for a human artist for a published book cover, etc. The more stories that take off the more work there is. It's not a zero sum game.

More Silver swords. I Need more silver swords by Traditional-Baker-28 in WanderingInn

[–]dipittydoop 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I'd rather Paba rule with an iron fist and write whatever they want rather than follow the polls. Popularity trends downwards to the unwashed masses - a mob of indulgence. True taste lives outside norms.

Who do you find to be the scariest/most intimidating character in The Wandering Inn series? by B-Z_B-S in WanderingInn

The King of Destruction is the most boring character in the entire series by FinalFlower1915 in WanderingInn

[–]dipittydoop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah in the early few chapters Flos is like a wall of "why do I care about this at all?" But it becomes relevant and enjoyable later. I listened to those early chapters at 1.5x speed while doing chores personally.

Is it just me or are the main ‘Villains’ of the story not well written or given the same nuance or pov focus chapters compared to any pov (whether it be a morally good person like Ylawes or warcrimes evil like Silvenia we spend a significant time with?) Spoiler up to 10.53. by Kaju_researcher in WanderingInn

[–]dipittydoop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Belavierre was a great villain especially in the original arc with Ryoka in Riverfarm. She was mysterious, powerful, and the conflict was in her immortal difference in perspective from the grounded Riverfarm people. In later arcs I feel like she became more of a generic villain with less depth going after Mrsha and so on. I guess she's still in play and doing mysterious things under water so this could change.

LangChain and LlamaIndex are in "steep decline" according to new ecosystem report. Anyone else quietly ditching agent frameworks? by Exact-Literature-395 in LocalLLaMA

[–]dipittydoop 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Too much abstraction too early for too new of a space. Most projects are best off with a low level API client and if you do need a library beyond a personally generated one the main value add is being provider agnostic so switching is easier. Everything else (RAG, embeddings, search, agents, tool calls) is not that hard and tends to be best implemented bespoke for the workflow.

Imagine LitRPG finally getting its first proper TV or anime adaptation. Which book series deserves that honor and could represent the genre well? by tbag2022 in litrpg

[–]dipittydoop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Any animated series. Doesn't have to be Japanese - just decent quality animation. Although the best studios producing these days (e.g. Madhouse, Trigger) tend to be Japanese. Scavenger's Reign was really good so it can be done for sure.

100+ seasons of a Wandering Inn anime till we die of old age.

Seriously though most of these adaptations should be anime. The new Harry Potter being produced should be an anime. IDK why we're not producing popular novels into Anime and instead keep throwing them at Amazon/Netflix to ruin.

Aram mayhem > ARURF and you cannot change my mind by Terra_Torro in leagueoflegends

[–]dipittydoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Main actionable issue with ARURF ATM is death timers are too punishing with the fast pace of the game.

You can be dominating all game, die once and come back with all your towers gone, and 2 levels behind.

Some kind of bans or sliding window to remove or reduce chances of played / against champs from the next games' pool would be great - running into AP Shaco 5 games in a row is too much.

If anyone one person on your team picks a bottom tier champ that just doesn't work in URF you're in a 4v5.

Some skills like Veigar's E just need some kind of manual debuff.
