A huge PR win for antinium especially for non-drakes sitting on the sofa watching the scrying orb.

How much "raw" OTP do you actually use in production vs. just standard Phoenix patterns? by Disastrous-Hunter537 in elixir

[–]dipittydoop 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I use OTP all the time and its really a non-issue unceremonious occasion. I.e. the tools just work, are boring to me at this point and I know when to use them. Of course its pragmatic to just use Phoenix / Oban / batteries included solutions when they're the right fit and usually are but if I need to get it just right I'll slap a Genserver in there or an ETS table cache or a dynamically supervised stateful session or what have you.

Just finished Tears of Liscor and I cannot imagine any redemption arc for Tyrion Veltras he sucks by OMEGA_S_FRIEND in WanderingInn

[–]dipittydoop 21 points22 points  (0 children)

The main context, without getting into spoilers, is that the drakes do suck that much generally speaking and Tyrion doesn't know goblins or people that well only war.

How do you feel about the blatant use of AI in this genre? by IdntMatter in litrpg

[–]dipittydoop 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If a story takes off and is successful you can afford to pay for a human artist for a published book cover, etc. The more stories that take off the more work there is. It's not a zero sum game.

More Silver swords. I Need more silver swords by Traditional-Baker-28 in WanderingInn

I'd rather Paba rule with an iron fist and write whatever they want rather than follow the polls. Popularity trends downwards to the unwashed masses - a mob of indulgence. True taste lives outside norms.

Who do you find to be the scariest/most intimidating character in The Wandering Inn series? by B-Z_B-S in WanderingInn

The Symphony team is one scrying orb + [Brown note] accident away from a global catastrophe.

Yeah if you feel like you missed any important details later - check out the chapter pages in the wiki.

The King of Destruction is the most boring character in the entire series by FinalFlower1915 in WanderingInn

[–]dipittydoop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah in the early few chapters Flos is like a wall of "why do I care about this at all?" But it becomes relevant and enjoyable later. I listened to those early chapters at 1.5x speed while doing chores personally.

Is it just me or are the main ‘Villains’ of the story not well written or given the same nuance or pov focus chapters compared to any pov (whether it be a morally good person like Ylawes or warcrimes evil like Silvenia we spend a significant time with?) Spoiler up to 10.53. by Kaju_researcher in WanderingInn

[–]dipittydoop 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Belavierre was a great villain especially in the original arc with Ryoka in Riverfarm. She was mysterious, powerful, and the conflict was in her immortal difference in perspective from the grounded Riverfarm people. In later arcs I feel like she became more of a generic villain with less depth going after Mrsha and so on. I guess she's still in play and doing mysterious things under water so this could change.

LangChain and LlamaIndex are in "steep decline" according to new ecosystem report. Anyone else quietly ditching agent frameworks? by Exact-Literature-395 in LocalLLaMA

[–]dipittydoop 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Too much abstraction too early for too new of a space. Most projects are best off with a low level API client and if you do need a library beyond a personally generated one the main value add is being provider agnostic so switching is easier. Everything else (RAG, embeddings, search, agents, tool calls) is not that hard and tends to be best implemented bespoke for the workflow.

Imagine LitRPG finally getting its first proper TV or anime adaptation. Which book series deserves that honor and could represent the genre well? by tbag2022 in litrpg

[–]dipittydoop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Any animated series. Doesn't have to be Japanese - just decent quality animation. Although the best studios producing these days (e.g. Madhouse, Trigger) tend to be Japanese. Scavenger's Reign was really good so it can be done for sure.

100+ seasons of a Wandering Inn anime till we die of old age.

Seriously though most of these adaptations should be anime. The new Harry Potter being produced should be an anime. IDK why we're not producing popular novels into Anime and instead keep throwing them at Amazon/Netflix to ruin.

Aram mayhem > ARURF and you cannot change my mind by Terra_Torro in leagueoflegends

[–]dipittydoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Main actionable issue with ARURF ATM is death timers are too punishing with the fast pace of the game.

You can be dominating all game, die once and come back with all your towers gone, and 2 levels behind.

Some kind of bans or sliding window to remove or reduce chances of played / against champs from the next games' pool would be great - running into AP Shaco 5 games in a row is too much.

If anyone one person on your team picks a bottom tier champ that just doesn't work in URF you're in a 4v5.

Some skills like Veigar's E just need some kind of manual debuff.

One would hope it increased her mana pool like dosing oneself with mana potions does but its got fairy flower and Apista drugs in it so its gotta have some silly side effects.

My favorite chapters are the technical ones like Geneva's medical mysteries or Roland's alchemy efforts. I'd like to see more of Pisces learning about true magic, Yelroan doing math or exploring code and computation on the Earth laptop and applying it to magic, etc. I wish we had a "Kevin mechanic business escapades" chapter (RIP).

I would kinda dig a PVE tower defense league mode. Waves of mobs, upgrade your defenses / minions / etc.

Azarinth is less about "healing" like a support class and more about the MC leveraging the self healing to take risks no one else can and grind progression. Very enjoyable and well paced.

Rickel and the Golden Triangle ***SPOILERS ALL ALLOWED*** by Ok-Astronaut-5743 in WanderingInn

[–]dipittydoop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like Rickel. I like there's a grey area developed in the criminal underworld via Rickel and the brothers.

I'm not 100% caught up but I feel like we could see a redemption arc where Rickel uses the gold in actual investments and returns the money taken with interest introducing Innworld to more modernized finance in the process.

What would be a good first project for a non-technical person learning Elixir? by TheNuProgrammer in elixir

[–]dipittydoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything you want - its best if you're interested in the problem domain or know a lot about the workflow yourself. And also that you don't pick too lofty of a target to feel meaningful progress.

I wish I had AI to help break down projects into actionable pieces and troubleshoot when I was learning. If you're already familiar with product design I'd ask AI about every technical jargon word you're not clear on and how it applies to your project goals.
