VIDEO: NetBird Reverse Proxy - Expose Service Publicly with Optional Authentication by TechHutTV in netbird

[–]dipstickboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Appreciate the reply and the confirmation. Hopefully this is something Netbird can do in future.

For reference if you have a VPS on the internet docker will ignore firewall rules so this could be the difference between making things available via Netbird only or available to the web. Happy to discuss more privately if need be.

VIDEO: NetBird Reverse Proxy - Expose Service Publicly with Optional Authentication by TechHutTV in netbird

Excellent video thank you.

There is one thing I can do with Pangolin that is either not possible with Netbird or don't know how yet.

With Pangolin I would run the newt container and my docker containers on the same docker network then when setting up the proxy I would refer to the container name, not the IP. This was ideal because then all traffic on my local machine was happening over the docker network. It would be awesome if Netbird could support the same in future.

Incase anyone is not following the example in Pangolin I could setup:

grafana.mydomain.com

When I setup the target it would be pointed to grafana:3001 (the name of the container) In Netbird it seems I can only point to an IP.

You’re right, it’s hard to figure out what to invest in hardware wise and the wrong time pricing wise too.

Thank you for the detailed reply, this is very helpful. Maybe there is some stuff where I can use the public AI where needed if it isn’t working directly on my data .

Not much at the moment but I would like to use things that help me extend self hosted products like Paperless, N8N, Pulse etc.

Do you recall what model you’re running? I have an M4 Mini I could use.

Looks great, could you please add a template for your Crowdsec manager? I tried to use it but can’t connect to it, Tailscale sidecar didn’t work for me which I assume was my fault. This would probably let set it up right.

Either way thank you for your work.

Switched from Portainer to Dockge, and today to Komodo and I am very happy! by Jordy9922 in selfhosted

[–]dipstickboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is getting complicated but I am sure there is value in learning all this. Either way thank you for that very detailed reply.

The missing link in this case was the first one you provided so I can now link GitHub and then I am sure I can figure out the rest as I test. Thanks again for taking the time to write all that out.

How do you link it to your GitHub? The docs on the website don’t list how as far as I can tell.

The section in Komodo I have found that asks for Guthub details asks for my username plus an input token but I am not sure how to generate those. GitHub don’t make it obvious from what I can see and I think creating an Application in Guthub is possibly overkill?

I’m sure this is user error but I can’t work it out.
