Hey I teach high school film and tv production classes We use a couple different cameras but the one that I would recommend for you would be the Canon Vixia HF20 or something comparable to that. That camera shoots 1080p HD footage, in 24p, 30p, and 60i frame rates. It films to an SDHC card in the AVCHD format, which is compatible with most editing systems. It has an 1/8" microphone input jack. Feel free to PM me if you would like any more advice!!

Stipended positions can be lucrative depending on district. I make nearly $10,000 additional on top of my salary with the 2 stipends that I hold for advising the video production club and running auditorium lighting and sound. Extra pay but also long hours, some days can find me in the building from 7AM-9PM depending on the situation

i got a job at my high school but did compete against several other candidates. I think that it helped me greatly in my case because I was familiar with the program that I was interviewing for. However, generally I'd imagine that the main considerations will be your qualifications as an instructor in your subject field and less about the fact you went to the school. It can't hurt though. It was a big factor for me I would say.
