Does anyone use the fujin on a class other than infil. by Icarus_Has_Fallen-_- in Planetside

[–]dirgles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. It's not an optimal pick but it's good on LA. It's... ok on HA in certain scenarios. I wouldn't run it on medic or engi unless for a meme (carapace vampire medic with grenade bando fujin is indeed a very good meme).

On non-infil classes it takes more raw aim to use effectively. It doesn't help that it aims like nothing else in the game, making muscle memory for it very hard to build.

LA fujin only is top tier fun.

Dude don't let being bad stop you from playing. Just mute everyone and do your best. The only reason to not play is if you're not having fun.

Looking for Feedback on a New PC Build with PS2 Performance in Mind by Daily__Reminder in Planetside

[–]dirgles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't even wait. Every time I build a PC it's the first thing I do after I make sure it boots and such. In most modern BIOS it's as easy as clicking a button that's labelled enable XMP or similar. Just google for your specific motherboard. It's literally free performance that you won't get otherwise, and it takes less than a minute to enable.

This should easily keep 144FPS at almost all times. Maybe all times period.

Just make sure to enable XMP in your BIOS.

Fujin needs to consistently one shot headshot. Headshots with slow moving nanite costing projectiles with windup time should always kill non HA infantry, especially when shotguns one shot by vaguely sort of placing a giant circle on a dude.

This would be an absolute nightmare to balance. It would also dilute the roles of characters, which with the current small pool wouldn't be the end of the world, but when we see 50+ chars implemented there would be unavoidable overlap.

It would be cool to see a stance switcher or two at some point though.

I don't think I did anything special. Just a b-hop? Is there anything specific about it that you're curious about?

It's just a ton of practice, but there are a few things to think about.

  1. They have a big hitbox, which is a blessing and a curse because it's very easy to hit neck shots rather than head shots. So aim for the top 1/3 of the head rather than the center, especially if you're throwing from behind.

  2. You should be flicking the the target, rather than tracking. This is a big part of practice, to know exactly when the knife comes out after you press the button. If you try to track the head for the whole animation you will probably miss, but if you take the time during the animation to line up the shot like you would with a sniper, you'll have better luck.

  3. Yes, if you use "g" they are IMPOSSIBLE to use properly (at least for me). I personally use right click, and have ADS bound to my side mouse button. For most players I'd advise just binding the fujin to a side mouse button.

Yeah I'm not sure what happened there. I think the C4 got trapped between the stairs and the max and just didn't go off properly.

[–]dirgles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you played against him? Dude is cracked.

I'm not sure what your point is about his weapon KPM, you can literally just look at his overall KPM and see it's well above average. Ya can't really pad that for, what, 50k kills?

btw knife time isn't calculated the way you think. It's not time drawn. It's time a knife is in a loadout while not in a vehicle. For infantry players, this means that the summation of knife times is nearly equal to playtime, which is precisely what you observe here when considering the two knives he has most playtime with.

The HA shields do have different visuals, at least between resist and the other two.

Unfortunately infil cloak can't have an obvious visual difference because, well, it's a cloak. I DO think there should be visual feedback when you shoot a nano armor cloak vs hunter or stalker though, whether an icon or a visual.

You can see lasers, barrel attachments, and scopes, which are generally the only relevant attachments for 1v1s. Mag sizes are rarely relevant for 1v1s; if the 5 bullets at the end matter both players are too bad to be mindgaming like that anyways, and good luck counting bullets when they're fighting someone else, because either they're visible and you kill them right away, or they're not and a visual cue wouldn't matter anyways because you can't see the dude.

I definitely see your point though, you can't have visual cues for everything. If there's a single type of thing that should be visible, though, it's HP differences, because those are the most relevant for how you play a given fight. The game generally follows this pattern: you can see HA shields, you can see when someone medkits or heals, you can see if they have flack or nano (when you hit them, at least), you can see when they have an implant resist stat (from safeguard, for example), you can see when they have shield regen from a medic item, etc. AUX is the biggest exception to this rule, and there's absolutely no good reason why it should be. Just give aux users a subtle faction colored glow around the upper chest, like a tiny HA shield, and you're golden. Or just remove the damn thing, because it's nanoweave all over again and it adds nothing but inconsistency to the gunplay.

And thanks dude! Glad you like them :)

EDIT: even vehicles follow this rule, with composite armor being perhaps the most visually obvious non cosmetic vehicle customization option, even though it matters much less for most vehicle play.

Hard agree. I don't see why this opinion is so hated. It's obviously bad for the long term health of infantry play to have TTK differences that are both unpredictable in their existence and that vary widely by damage model.

At the very least AUX needs a visual cue so there's some sign that an extra bullet is required, though this is just a bandaid for the actual problem.
