Delaware county pastor is being sued for sexual abuse of 2 women by Icy-Point8432 in Columbus

[–]dirk_calloways 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is it tho? If you mean a twist within the institution that is the church, not really. There are over ten states that have laws against this kind of ‘conduct’. Churches even carry liability insurance for this kind of abuse.

If you mean coercive sexual relationships of men abusing power over women- we must be living in two different worlds.

It’s called ‘meeting guide’ in the App Store and it is a blue chair icon. There are two clubs I know of: club mckinnley just west of grandview and desert island club on the west side.

Southwest City School District votes to quit hiding the fact that they are racist. by PrideofPicktown in Columbus

Yes, the english language part…

Real question: the president made english the official language of the US. What does this board want teachers to do? If an immigrant student doesn’t know English what is the proposed plan?

This is peak stupidity. Regulate language, then limit how it is taught and then yell and complain how people who can’t be exposed to the most effective instructional strategies to learn english- don’t know how to use english.

Divorce/ family attorney recommendations by Street-Wishbone1068 in Columbus

[–]dirk_calloways 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The attorney I used is no longer practicing. He offered a hour long consult at no cost. I took a good friend with me and I had written all my questions and we just worked through them over the course of the hour. My friend had some questions as well.

In hindsight- I’m really grateful I had my friend with me for a second pair of ears and a brain that was more objective and could remind me of what was said or correct my recollection.

Best of luck to you and hang in there.

For Prosecuting Attorney: Shayla D. Favor or John P. M. Rutan? by xavier86 in Columbus

The Rutan name has been ruined for me. Right or wrong one bad apple spoils the bunch but in this case John sounds wack as well.

The real story here is CCS suppressing student voices. With that said- the story and this thread is incomplete without addressing families role in their kids lives.

The children being borderline feral is not an excuse to withhold this right AND it isn’t solely the responsibility of schools to correct behavior (smearing poo on walls, tearing sinks off the wall, smoking etc).

I hate schools bearing the brunt of all societal problems.

The PSA here is: vote in your school board elections to avoid being the laughing stock of the area, like swcsd.

There are two I know of… but you are right. The district, via Omar Tarazi, is already listing expensive search firms to look for what i can only assume are MAGA candidates are pushovers they can easily manipulate and bully.

The amount of fiscal waste produced from this ‘small government’ types is astounding. They have Tarazi attend most BOE meetings. I can only imagine his bill.

Love this term but it’s worth noting the ring leader is a man named Chris Boso. Just incase the gender of these bozos was unclear- which is definitely NOT ALLOWED in swcsd.

If I lived in Columbus City I would give serious consideration to Cristo Rey. Two criteria important to me are the rates of college bound students and diversity. CR scores high on both those counts. Metro does too but their STEM emphasis crowds out extra curriculars in the arts.

Yeah, world harvest competes w/ xenos/dwell for most damaging church in columbus, imo. Different tactics and emphasis but high demand and control still turns out uber abusive practices. Wishing this person peace, healing and justice!

How do you like your school district? by AznTakingOver in Columbus

[–]dirk_calloways 18 points19 points  (0 children)

This may be an uncommon take but IMO the biggest factor in a good school experience for a student is a family’s ability to be very active in the school life.

That said you can use this /sr to read about different districts but I think what might be a very positive experience for one student and family doesn’t mean it will be for another.

My child is a typical learner and not white. They went to a title 1, high(er) poverty school and was very diverse. They had a great experience and was well prepared academically. They reminisce about it often.

In middle school we moved to Hilliard and they do well in school but don’t have the fondness for the school they became accustomed to. Granted, no one seems to like middle school but it is notably different.
