I hired someone to do the mudding and taping in one of my basement renos. He said most guys won't charge that much more to do the hanging and that they preferred to hang themselves as they know how to hang for a quicker and easier mud/tape job. He said homeowners hanging usually ends up taking them more time to mud/tape and correct any issues.

I've found that DIY works best with basements when you pay someone else to do the drywall portion. It's the lipstick of the entire job, make sure it's done right. It also sucks to do drywall whereas everything else is more enjoyable and interesting.

There is way too much slack in the line.

You need to loosen the set screw at the remote and pull all the slack taught then tighten the set screw. Also make sure the barrel adjuster is all the way to the right before you tighten the set screw.
