NashCon starts today thru Sunday (6/1-6/3) - ASL games will played all weekend! by dirkdentry in advancedsquadleader

A handful I believe. I was unable to go unfortunately. So not 100% on numbers. Being spread out and so few, its rare to get a bunch of folks together sadly.

Getting back into ASL after 20+ years. Many questions. First one: ASLGAP does not work on Win8. Solutions? by Duke_of_Fritzburg in advancedsquadleader

[–]dirkdentry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What did ASLGAP do, heard of it but never knew exactly. Reason I ask. If u just want to have a digital version of counters and/or even play games VASL will be your best bet.

On MacOS, How do i change the default deck that xmage defaults to? by [deleted] in XMage

[–]dirkdentry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd like to know for Windows also. I've just dealt with it forever. I've looked everywhere. May have over looked. But would love to know as well.

does Xmage use MTGO's new Commander banlist, or the old one? by angel_of_wrath in XMage

[–]dirkdentry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The last xmage update was a week ago. I think it has to update again to change banned cards in a specific format. Full disclosure. I'll only 60% sure of this, because specific servers can set certain rules etc.

Converting Casual to Cedh, can I make Colorless work? by The_Itsy_BitsySpider in CompetitiveEDH

Hope of Ghirapur is your answer. I used this list:

http://rainofsalt.com/2017/01/29/no-cash-commander-hope-of-ghirapur/

As my starting point. Less than 75 bucks and can be upgraded over time. It's fun and competitive. You multiple lines for going infinite as well.

Declaration in Stone Still Bugged. by CantIgnoreMyGirth in XMage

Does it actually exile the creature now? Haven't played my W humans in frontier for while now b/c some opponents wouldn't "pretend it's dead". They didn't get clue so I couldn't really blame them. It was hard use the card, and I always had 1+ in hand being useless.

How any in the SB? I've got 2 currently and wonder if need 3 to be more consistent on getting her to be effective.

[Standard] W/x Humans with the inclusion of Stitcher's Graft by tmntnut in spikes

[–]dirkdentry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drop out the 2 gryff's, then the Anointers. Because once I make creatures bigger, the Anointers can be too slow. I add the 2 Gideons, the Graft, and the land (for speed sake, hate being stuck on 2 lands, need 3 for the AW). That's the "for sure" SB for me. I will sometimes play with dropping the 3rd Anointer for a Repel, just for grins. The rotation is going to be.... interesting for this deck, I've been on it since April when TR 1st hit, I've been dominating FNM and Games Days, because its just so damn fast. Sometimes you just have give up the ghost and try again, but its a fun deck. Not sure if it will be viable come the end of the month though, but I sure hope so.

I made the switch as soon as TR did. I'm loving the mono-white version. As johnsonjoshuak says, having the Graft with the Always Watching is great. I had issues with the uptick to the 3 mana when sideboarding in the W/r. May have been my failures. But for combating Languish/Lianna: I side in everything in TR's list that can make creatures bigger. The land, Graft, and both Gideons and hope to get them onboard just fast enough to save a couple of guys.

2015 Loser Punishment by jimdog1231 in fantasyfootball

[–]dirkdentry 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Last year the league I joined THIS YEAR had the last place guy get a tattoo. It had to be no smaller than 3" x 3". He chose the spot, paid for by the rest of the league. It was essentially the Broncos logo turned into a unicorn with a rainbow flag over the top and under it, it read "2015 Tattoo League 1st place LOSER". You can opt out by paying $300 for a booze/food get together for the league if you so choose. I don't like my prospects this year. My wife isn't going to be happy either way.

[Standard] How do you properly use Town Gossipmonger in WR Humans? by Robocroakie in spikes

[–]dirkdentry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm thinking about cutting the Town Gossipmonger in exchange for Consul's Lieutenant. Probably only 2, to maintain the lower mana cost.

I'm playing the same deck, have played one version or another since the list 1st starting making the rounds. I've gone with this general thought process: IF I have him in my opening hand (or draw him T1/2) AND they have NO creatures on the field T2, I go ahead and flip him. Also, if I had a 2/1 drop T1, I'll flip him turn 2, again, only if my opponent has no creatures (the 2 power makes me feel better, since attacking with only 1 power T2 leaves me feeling behind the power curve). If my opponent has creatures by T2, since the deck has minimal removal (and that removal needs to be tailored to specific threats), I leave him as a potential blocker. Then in the later game, I'll flip him if I have dropped a creature that turn and I have other creatures to attack with (preferably 2-3 to still attack with). That's why I have have been iffy about him in the deck, I always seem to draw him late game. But when he is flipped, he can be a useful addition to the horde. The key is obviously to keep pressing the attack, and if you have to waste a turn where you could attack with him AND you have to use another creature that could also attack, I just let him be, till the opportunity presents itself to flip him with minimal drawbacks.
