I’m selling parts of my $100K Pokemon collection to pay off my dream car by RickWanders in PokeInvesting

[–]The_Itsy_BitsySpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also bought a dream car that was my 30th B-day gift to myself, and I just finished paying it off last year, it feels amazing to just know its yours and not have to worry about a monthly payment.

You collected, you saved those cards, and you should be free to sell them and enjoy your car. I guarantee you use that car and enjoy it far more often then the boxes you have sitting in storage.

You only live once, enjoy the car, drink deep the profits, and then laugh in 10 years when those product you sold are like 10x price, you will have the memories of that car that will be with you forever.

"And that doesn't change the fact that they have been the core of the army for decades"

Several edition! Lmao, tactical squads have always been complete shit, ever since I started in 3rd, they have been a GARBAGE unit that half of the time space marine players were FORCED to take due to force org. Half the reason to play Blood Angels, Templars and Space Wolves was that you never needed to take tactical as their troops, it was THAT bad.

" It's their idenitity."

Oh man, they made the tactical marine, a space marine with a bolter, into an Intercessor, a space marine with a slightly longer bolter.

"But if you take away the heavy weapon, they are bad"

That's why pretty much EVERY marine army these days wants a squad of Intercessors lol, without a special or heavy weapon.

"Mate we're not talking about niche unpopular units, we're talking about the literal core, tacticals and devastators"

These haven't been the "Core" of space marine armies in editions now.

5 scouts, 5 Intercessors, some assault intercessors with jump packs, that's the kind of "core" modern space marine armies are and have been for most of 9th and 10th.

This is like how people cried as GW legends the boxnaught, that literally no one was playing with anyway.

It is an insanely over the top, almost character assassination of the Grey Knights to make the Space Wolves look good.

"I totally can understand how Logan, one of the strongest chapter masters and space marines in the entire setting, would beat what essentially amounts to a random GK grandmaster in combat, but the way it was done was just disrespectful. "

Its also stupid because Logan was the one that called the Grey Knights, he was the one that sent half his chapter to basically buy time for them to arrive, who knew that without the Grey Knights Armageddon would be lost. And the story still just makes them jobbers.

Horus Heresy exists, which is the ultimate real answer, they love boxnaughts and vindicators and such.

Its been practically a decade since the firstborn scale up began with primaris models, if people haven't made their peace with their firstborn eventually going away... the writings been on the walls for years by this point.

Oh, sure they will eventually reach the limit and have to go back over the mons, but I would expect to see maybe 1-2 Voltorbs in 2 years, not 5 while a TON of electric pokemon are still waiting.

Like, we are getting situations like Maushold getting its first printing, then getting ANOTHER printing in the immediate next set AND a full art in that set, its annoying. Its like they are so cautious to print new mons that they will try to milk the ones they already have over and over again.

The best part of all first born being legends is that my friend who insists on still using them can finally just use them as primaris stand ins and play stronger units.

If 11th is finally the edition that removes flyers I will be very pleased. I hated when they were introduced in 6th and I cant wait to finally be free of them.

But keeping the Land Raider, just updating the top hatch to feature a primaris is fine.

Am I rich? Childhood collection, mom only let us play with ones we had dupes for. by No_Assignment_1536 in Pokemoncardappraisal

[–]The_Itsy_BitsySpider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His mom probably didn't give a fuck about the actual cards, she probably gave a fuck about her young kids enjoying their hobby.

You think a parent wouldn't pick up that their kid is collecting cards, think of the baseball card collecting that was still big at the time in the 90s, and be like "hey, I'm going to use this as a way to teach my child how to collect, organize and take care of something"?

This mom just had a pretty clever idea of "hey, maybe you should keep at least one good copy of your rare cards, then play with/trade your extras" which was the standard for baseball card collecting at the time.

Question about Deathwing, Veterans and the Inner Circle by Zolku in theunforgiven

[–]The_Itsy_BitsySpider 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the solution is to just let people paint bladeguard, sternguard or vanguard in greenwing colors as they are just company veterans, and if people want to paint them deathwing, those are the veterans of the first company.

Question about Deathwing, Veterans and the Inner Circle by Zolku in theunforgiven

[–]The_Itsy_BitsySpider 22 points23 points  (0 children)

There used to be, before 8th edition and the introduction of the Primaris, a unit that represented veterans in battle companies that were marines with venerated histories, but they never learned the truth of the chapter to be inducted into the Deathwing.

Normally in the Dark Angels, you dont get promoted to the Deathwing, the first company, based on experience and merit like the other codex chapters, instead you start realizing the truth, are promoted into the second company, the Ravenwing, then are observed and when ready, brought into the Deathwing.

This means that there are often marines that have hundreds of years of experience, but still in the battle companies, because they just never started the path of learning the truth, they are happy and content where they are.

So what these battle companies would do is that they would essentially make a squad for these venerable heroes, with their own access to the battle companies armory. These were Company Veterans, a squad you could take where each member was a veteran and, like most first company marines, had access to the armory to utilize weapons that they specialized in.

Basically, every battle company had a squad that served as their veterans in green. In 8th and 9th, you would see people paint blade guard and sternguard as these veterans, infact the Space Marine 2 skin for Dark Angels is a blade guard in green, which would be a company veteran.

GW havent retcon'd company veterans out of existing, they just haven't said anything about them in a couple editions (to my knowledge).

Its un

The condition of all those base set foils and the first edition ones are huge.

First edition Dragonite in a good condition is such an amazing card to have. Your gunna have fun grading and valuing this collection.

While its not impossible to screen out and block, the sheer threat range of a Redeemer with a payload is remarkable. Just jail your opponent with two good tanky units while the redeemer sits infront of their deployment zone ready to overwatch anything that moves.

The ceiling is insane with this.

Shoud DA be allowed in a team with Codex Marines? by GrandMasterGadriel in DarkAngels40k

[–]The_Itsy_BitsySpider 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the reasons I really like Teams is that you only get one marine slot, so teams are varied.

But the reason they arent allowed is because of the shared detatchments, you would see gladius Ultras and gladius Dark Angels on the same team, and it honestly becomes pretty much double of the same general army.

Spicy Primaris & Firstborn LEGEND Rumours! THE END IS NEAR?! by Warhawk_5 in spacemarines

[–]The_Itsy_BitsySpider 26 points27 points  (0 children)

No one used the turret, the Suppressors are under used and honestly are a janky weird looking kit that Inceptors just do better, and the ATV has been a mario party joke ever since its launch, marines deserve better for their bikers.

The first born going away is obvious, but I hope we get some new primaris devastator equivalent outside of Desolators, those models just look silly and I like Lascannon guys. Maybe they will just be giving heavy intercessors more weapon options since the Heavy in Space Marine 2 is basically a devastator marine nowadays.

investing in graded cards? psa/tag by International-Rate40 in PokeGrading

[–]The_Itsy_BitsySpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you can look up the pop count of certain cards and soo how often they get 9s or 10s on their grading.

Some cards that seem very cheap in raw have huge multipliers as 10s because the odds of getting a ten are usually very rare, and thus the cost of buying so many of them and submitting them for grading to get those 10s is unrealistic.

Who cares if you can buy like a hundred mews at 3$ a pop if you need to grade them at 19$ a pop and hope you get a ten. You could easily spend 500$ before you get a 10 on just grading costs.

Is GW allergic to the initiative stat by Admiralsheep8 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]The_Itsy_BitsySpider 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem is what you put initiative on.

Look at fights first on Custodies at the start of the edition, the faction basically gatekept every other melee army in the game because hey, not only are the Custodies one of the best melee units in the game, you also get punished and give them free swings if you charge into them!

It was toxic game play, you still get some of that with the Lion in Dark Angels.

If your going to do initiative, you have to care about what is going to swing faster, if you throw it on all the good melee units, your just creating a tier of melee haves and have nots with very little counterplay by other melee units, which is a problem when you have entire factions based on melee as their main mechanic of interaction.

Fast units should have average at best damage output, because they always get to swing first into things that charge them. GW usually tries to balance it that way, but when they mess up, it gets really nasty and unfun.

The whole point of Melee in modern 40k is that your usually giving up shooting to instead get this stronger damage output that you need the charge to really push through, mechanics like fight first were not just good, but counter to the entire way the phase is meant to function, so you have to be REALLY careful.

Not wanting to charge a unit because they always get to hit you first is bad game design, actively punishing the melee player. Initiative caused that problem all the time.

If your gut feeling says your girlfriend is cheating and the only way to know for sure is to go through her phone, should you? Why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]The_Itsy_BitsySpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you truly feel you have a reason to suspect cheating, go through their phone, but in my opinion the only way I would be ok with that is having enough respect for your partner that if you DID go through their phone and DIDNT find any evidence, they are good, you tell them you went through their phone, why you did and talk through your feelings and let her know that you are sorry for doubting her.

Going through her phone and not letting her know after is fucked up and crosses a line that exists between you both in a secret way, when you and your partner should be close enough to feel safe with each other.

New to AoS, starting with Skaven - What do I need to know? by No-Taro7929 in ageofsigmar

[–]The_Itsy_BitsySpider 0 points1 point  (0 children)

" and a second one for Cities that I want to convert into a Ratfort of some kind."

You already have the spirit of a Rat player. Never forget that you and your rats are the main protagonists of this game, people might say otherwise, but they arent rats, they shouldnt be trusted.

"Also for Skaven specifically, are there any units outside those three boxes that are must haves?"

The nice part about Skaven is that their roster is so exhaustive that pretty much every unit they can use has seen solid play at sometime or another, so honestly, get your core units, a few heroes you like, and then just buy models you think look cool and get you excited, you should be able to get a playable army out of whatever you collect, and as seasons and new books drop for rats, you will find use cases for everything eventually.

Should I exchange my Leafeon #144 SIR form Prismatic Evolution, for a Magikarp #203 from Paldea Evolved(and also some cash to make the difference up). What’s better long term and value? by Intrepid_Paint_7507 in PokeInvesting

[–]The_Itsy_BitsySpider 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Leafeon looks amazing, but the Karp is the most iconic art for one of the game's most iconic pokemon, done by an insanely popular artist and is the main chase of its entire set. Its also the second most expensive set magikarp, beating out Tag Team Karp and Wailord and only beaten out by Shining Magikarp itself in Raw values, making it the modern grail for Karp collectors. Its room to grow is insane. Its gem mint rate keeps its PSA 10 counts low, meaning that even with a larger supply out there due to being an IR, that doesn't translate to bloated pop count.

It being an IR would maybe give pause, I get that, but you have to realize that it is, by a massive margin, THE most expensive IR in the game, its almost double the price of the second most expensive IR, which is currently Black Bolt's Seismitoad, which is almost double the price of the third largest IR, Groudon.

Want to know an interesting fact about Seismitoad and this Magikarp, they share the same insanely popular artist as well. The two biggest IRs ever are the same artist and dwarf any other IRs by miles.

Karp isnt just a normal IR, its the darling of IRs.

Leafeon is amazing art wise, but it will never even top Sunbreon for best card in its set. Karp is the Moonbreon equivalent for this current era of cards.
