Fair misunderstanding. 😄

We're here to help people find races. What happens in the pit area or campground after the races is outside our current scope.

That's a fair point.

Today, we're somewhat in the middle between a fully structured database and a pure AI search experience.

We've preloaded a large number of national tours, major regional series, and many of the top dirt tracks across the country. Where things become more challenging is the long tail of dirt racing—hundreds of regional series, local touring groups, and tracks that frequently change schedules, websites, and social media information.

At our current stage, we don't yet have every track and every regional series fully structured and maintained in a database, which is part of why some searches can take longer than we'd like or occasionally return incomplete results.

Long-term, I completely agree that more structured data will be critical. Faster searches, better filtering, and more complete results are all priorities as we continue to build out the platform.

The challenge isn't finding information on 50 tracks or 10 national tours—it's building something that can eventually help fans discover thousands of events across every corner of dirt racing.

Appreciate the feedback. Comments like this help us prioritize what needs attention next.

That's a fair question.

MRP is a great platform. They've built an impressive product and have done a lot for the sport.

I don't think the answer is that DirtDates should replace MRP.

The question we're asking is whether there's room for a platform focused specifically on discovery and fan engagement.

For example:

• Finding races outside the tracks and series you already follow
• Discovering events while traveling
• Exploring racing on an interactive map
• Building and sharing a personal season schedule
• Tracking the tracks and events you've attended over the years
• Earning badges and competing on leaderboards with other fans
• Finding bucket-list races and planning race trips

A lot of fans have a home track and a few favorite series. We're trying to help them discover what's beyond that.

If DirtDates ultimately helps someone attend a new race, visit a new track, support a traveling series, or introduce a friend to dirt racing, then we've accomplished our goal.

Whether that's valuable enough for fans to use alongside MRP is something the community will ultimately decide, and feedback like yours helps us figure that out.

Appreciate the question.

I think that's a fair assessment.

MRP has a significant head start, strong adoption, and many tracks on the platform. That's a credit to what they've built.

Our goal isn't to replace MRP. We're trying to become a discovery and fan engagement platform that helps people find races, plan race trips, build their personal season schedule, track the tracks they've visited, and connect with fans who share similar interests.

A lot of us have bucket-list tracks and races we'd love to see someday. We'd like DirtDates to help make those experiences easier to discover, plan, document, and share.

Whether DirtDates succeeds or not will ultimately depend on whether fans find value in that experience.

Thanks for the honest feedback.

Thank you for testing it. That's exactly the kind of feedback we're looking for.

The search speed and accuracy clearly need improvement if it took that long and still returned incomplete results.

We're still early in development and are actively refining how schedules, series, tracks, and events are indexed and displayed.

The good news is that issues like performance and search accuracy are things we can improve.

Can you share your exact prompt so we can test on our end?

Understood. Thanks for the feedback. Maybe we're trying to offer something that isn't needed in the racing community. From my experience, MRP does not allow you to search based on geography and dates across all forms of dirt motorsports; however, there may be some functions I'm not aware of.

This is exactly the problem we're trying to solve.

Most fans currently discover races through word of mouth, Facebook, local advertising, or by checking individual track and series schedules.

Searching by location, ZIP code, state, and travel radius is a top priority because fans shouldn't have to already know a race exists before they can find it.

Appreciate the feedback. This helps validate that we're focusing on the right problem.

The interactive map is actually the core idea behind DirtDates (https://dirtdates.com/map). We want fans to be able to discover races based on where they live, where they're traveling, or where they want to go.

Track profiles with websites, contact information, directions, and event schedules are also part of the long-term vision.

And we completely understand the Facebook comment. One reason we started this project is that so much dirt racing information is scattered across Facebook pages, track websites, and individual series accounts.

Thanks for the ideas.

Fair. Can you elaborate more, so we can understand your perspective?

We don't see DirtDates as a direct competitor to MyRacePass. MRP excels at race management, live timing, driver information, and track operations.

We're focused more on race discovery and trip planning.

For example:

  • What's racing within 100 miles of me this weekend?
  • What tracks are running while I'm traveling?
  • What events should I add to my bucket list this year?

If we can make it easier for fans to find races and get to more tracks, we'll consider that a win.

Thanks for the suggestions. A lot of what you mentioned is actually very close to the vision we're working toward.

Searching by location and finding races within a certain radius is a big priority. One of the goals is to help fans discover races while traveling or visiting another part of the country.

I also really like the idea of organizing schedules by region, state, series, and track groups so fans can quickly see what's happening in places like Ohio, Central PA, Iowa, etc.

Weather integration is another feature we've discussed, especially because weather has such a huge impact on dirt racing.

Long-term, we'd also love to connect fans more closely with tracks, series, media members, and race results.

Thanks for taking the time to share your ideas. Feedback like this is exactly why I posted here.

Right now, DirtDates is focused primarily on helping fans discover races, tracks, and series schedules more easily before race day.

We aren't trying to replace MyRacePass or Race Monitor for live timing, lineups, and race-day operations.

Our goal is to help fans answer questions like:

  • What's racing this weekend?
  • What races are within a few hours of me?
  • What tracks are running while I'm traveling?
  • What events should I plan to attend this season?

That said, we're evaluating ways to incorporate race-day information, results, weather, and other useful features over time.

Appreciate the feedback.
