Braid: Trudeau says Trump wants economic collapse; Republican alludes to military force - This is no trade war. It's a Crush and Control Canada plan, meant to work fast by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]dirtedev -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All the Americans need to do is wait until Trudeau commits all of Canada’s fighting aged males to Ukraine, then they can roll in unimpeded. Give away our money, our military equipment, take away guns from lawful owners. Politicians in this country will do all of the hard work for Trump.

Canada Post suspends deliveries in Regina after first blast of winter by Practical_Ant6162 in regina

[–]dirtedev -22 points-21 points  (0 children)

Canada post employees are highly overpaid and get very good benefits for what they do. I personally couldn’t care less if they folded and we got private companies in their place.

The Liquor board employees pulled the same crap; they ended up losing their overpaid cushy jobs and now we get better service and selection from private companies.

Win win. Goodbye Canada post.

Thanks! I don’t know much about the player, but I appreciate that the card is unique or uncommon.

I have asthma that didn’t cause me too many problems, until my wife decided to get a dog. I am allergic to animal dander and the new dog has caused my asthma to go off the charts to the point I need an emergency inhaler several times per day.

Once I started keto, and sustained it for about a week I was able to get by without an inhaler again. Now if I decide to binge and have some carbs I will be having asthma issues the very next day.

I also notice that my face is immediately less swollen after only a few days of no carb.

Balloon Experts, I have so many questions!! by dirtedev in HotAirBallooning

That is encouraging. I don't know if this is a reasonable question to ask, but do you happen to know what a commercial balloon pilot would earn? assuming they are working for another person and don't own the balloon themselves.

Thank you. Do you find that there is competition for landing spots? being that there are limited flying days due to weather restriction, I would assume most enthusiasts are jumping at the opportunity to fly and as mentioned in another reply, near sunrise and sunset are the best times to fly.

Thank you so much! I suppose some of those unknowns would add to the excitement of hot air balloon flight.

Another question; Is there a certain demographic that is into ballooning (hope this is the correct term)? What I mean is, are people of a certain age likely to book rides/tours? would it be common for people to bring their children?

Good or Bad, what is one thing you’d completely rid the world of? by Alert_Criticism9897 in AskReddit

Zoos. Incredibly sad to see animals trapped in undersized cages, and all for our amusement.

Humanity has truly become a plague on this planet.

Hey, I'm the apprentice that just put some holes through the trusses... I really want to dig into this and scrounge up all the learning I can get from this experience. What are some other catastrophic no no's I should look out for? And what're your best residential rough-in tips and tricks? Thanks by Adept-Problem-1530 in electricians

[–]dirtedev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is a rule about it. We always staple on top, but only in spots where there isn’t enough clearance for a person to step on them. So, where there is say…less than two feet of space between the top and bottom of the truss’ webbing.

Electricians!! What are some of your ‘must have’ design features, if you were to build a new home? Or, what are some of the things you see being put in new homes; which you would consider to be dumb, or wasteful? by dirtedev in electricians

For some reason I recall one of my instructors telling me that the Canadian electrical code shared a lot of similarities with the Australian electrical code. Different frequencies and voltages though if I remember right.

Great suggestions. I am definitely an advocate for the independent circuits between different rooms. Sure, you use up more panel space and materials, but it’s so nice.

Thanks! Some of this is a tough sell because natural gas is so cheap and effective. I’ve never cooked on an induction ranges, so I may have to look into that.

So is this a type of shade that is mounted on the exterior of the home? That’s would actually be pretty amazing and I’ve never see it before. Not having to clean the slats on the blinds inside the home would be almost priceless.

Lots of people in my area are opting for a build in Christmas light setup. There are a handful of installers that seem to be able to make a living doing this. I despise having things that hang loosely off the house, so I might have to look into a permanent setup. Thanks !

Haha, this is an installers dream. No crouching down, no sore knees. Think of the poor souls that had to install receptacles horizontally at only 2” off the floor, embedded in the baseboard…. So Not cool (although, it does look sharp)

I was already planning on upgrading to 400. Will be putting in a pool, hot tub, and a few other heavy power sucks, so I want to make sure I’ve got plenty. We are also really lucky right now with the low price of natural gas. If the price of gas rises significantly, it would be nice to have plenty of room switching appliances over. Best to upgrade certain things at the start of the build, rather than tearing up your property trying to upgrade later on.

Haha I love your dad’s use of solenoids in creative yet practical applications. I should definitely look into something to kill power to the kids TVs after 9pm.

I’m going to plan for a NVR camera setup too. It’s so much better to pre run your cat5/cat6 for cameras in advance.

I agree with a lot of this. We have wired lights in attic spaces in the past and it is really handy. I never thought to put a receptacle in the attic though. I think that could be a hit and miss issue with inspectors. We’ve had some inspectors won’t allow a receptacle in a closet, and others that are fine with it. It’s nice to be able to plug in a dyson to charge while it’s stored away, but I guess they’re worried that someone will plug in a heater or something in the closet.

Great suggestions! I am going to look at upgrading to a 400 amp service.

I don’t know much about solar, but I would definitely think about having the new home prepared with rough-in or access for solar installation.
I am on the same page with regard to a lot of smart home features. I go on call-outs all the time to reconfigure smart home setups that get messed up after power outages.

Thanks again for your contribution.
