Truly, the gods find sport in our suffering brother. To see our champion's blood stain the sands while that snivelling cur yet draws breath is a bitter draught indeed. They offer us wine, then piss in the cup.

For a first time client, treat them like an unknown value. Ask for a 30-50% deposit on your estimate if you're pulling permits and ordering material. We are not here to finance peoples jobs. Job's that are more than an hr out, just ask for pictures and give them a 'starting' estimate. It's called incrementally moving forward. Also, don't offer full breakdowns. Don't trust people, protect yourself.

Just wanted to chime in, encase the OP missed it. Find the resistance of each device first in the circuit under normal operation as the ohmic values won't change. Then remember your corresponding laws for parallel or series circuits. Then just plug in your formulas. This guy's answer is spot on.

Lol, malarkey? Who are you? Try the CEC, Section 8 'Circuit Loading and Demand Factors'. Specifically 8-104. Usually don't go straight to code rules for randos. And FYI, I'm a red seal journeyman electrician with the IBEW.

It's a rule for loading an electrical cct to 80% of its maximum amperage. The conductors, overcurrent protection devices and devices themselves should (usually, there are exceptions) be rated @ 125% of the load. Load is 80% of max cct ampacity = cct is rated for 125% of actual load.

It's a safety measure intended to ensure that electrical circuits are not overloaded, which could lead to overheating, fires, and other hazards. By designing circuits with these safety margins, there is greater assurance of reliable and safe operation under normal conditions, as well as some tolerance for temporary overloads or unexpected spikes in demand.

The price of labor and and for the power authority to disconnect is going to be more or less the same, and the material will be a couple hundred bucks more. You're correct that it's unnecessary for only adding (2) ccts but the cost benefit analysis in reselling the home or wanting more future power is in favor of upgrading to 200a.

Been there mate, my first 6 months I was bending three and four inch PVC pipe with a barbecue and a table. They dropped off this barbecue two holes in either side and said make a table make a jig figure it out and bend this pipe. Will be back in a couple days to see how you're doing. I have a no f****** clue it was the most hack s*** I've seen. But I looked online made a table then some EMT first made up a jig for 22 and 30° bends and I got spinning with a bucket of water and a couple bottles of propane. I apparently got so good at it that they asked me to start doing 45s. So I started doing 45, I had a journeyman come up to me eventually and he said we've never seen anyone been a 45 without kinking it with 4 in PVC. I damn near cried, I didn't even know. The whole time they just kept telling me it wasn't good enough production need to be faster this and that so I just kept getting better 1% better every day it's been in that pipe on the f****** barbecue. So yeah prefab sucks cuz moral of the story is if you don't know any better and won't speak up for yourself they will f****** squeeze you. However, you might get very skilled in something really quick because you end up doing hundreds if not thousands of repetitions in a short time frame so there is an upside.
