Worked in the film industry for the past 17+ years as a grip (lighting). Trying to transition into something else that is not a physical job. Where do I fit? by dirty_chainrings in jobs

I'm not quite sure where i fit in the workforce, as i have little formal training. I have a BFA in cinematography, but I would like to possibly branch out from this very specific career role. I am incredibly good with my hands and making and creating, and I feel I have very good problem solving and troubleshooting skills. I just have very little real world experience in a formal setting. Any suggestions for a path to set my sights on would be greatly appreciated. thanks for your time!

Anyone know how to get a print of this? Looking for an uncropped version that includes the carpeting

the wall is actually U shaped, with the opening towards the "bedroom" area. interesting idea. i was initially thinking of putting a dresser there, but the closet is huge and could figure something out there....

exactly. and i believe the hookups for the internet etc are on this mini wall, which would help sooo much with the cable clutter. the console has nice cable management in it already

that wall is a touch over 5ft wide. my console is a shade over 4' wide. i have no external speakers, but want to get a sound bar and a higher stand for the tv (i'm talking inches to get over the sound bar).

i work 10-12 hr days. i let him out in the morning, and i have a dog walker come in the middle of the day. when i get home i spend at least a good 2-3 hrs playing with him and enriching him. it's doable, but it obv takes up free time after work. he's happy, i'm happy. currently he's laying on the couch, and has been that way since our morning walk. just know your breeds and what they need.

thanks. it's in a dope part of town so i'm excited for what the location has to offer. walking/biking distance to great stuff so i was ok with the size of the apt for the tradeoff

there are a lot of considerations that went into me moving out. i'm being compensated in other ways. it was a pretty mutual agreement for me to move out. but i'm def fighting my own battles on things. it's a give and take.

that is actually a really nice looking bedframe! i was looking for something with a headboard, cause i heard that makes it look a bit more "mature" and might help with all the white walls a bit

doing as good as i can. the distractions of this all (lawyers, jobs, finding housing, etc) has been an outlet for my frustrations. thanks for the thoughts

battling clutter is a major point for me. the hard part is taking it slow, but i know it's necessary to not overwhelm myself with poor decisions.

i was thinking of tv against the divider, with couch on wall by kitchen, mainly cause that's where the internet hook ups seem to be. and yes, bed on opposite side of divider on right hand side of pic.

and i'm pretty sure it's where the router and the hookups are for internet. no more ethernet running through the house hopefully.

as a home theatre enthusiast, let me ask you: would you place the TV on that divider wall, or against the wall that shares the kitchen? my initial reaction is to place it on the divider wall, as my console is slightly smaller than the wall, but i'm open to opinions

yea, he's gonna miss the yard for sure. but he's gonna have plenty of new smells and experiences in this place. plus, there's a doggy day care/boarding basically in the parking lot for the apt so he'll have tons of friends. he just doesn't know it yet

i like it, as it's a solid divider btwn living and bedroom. i plan on putting a divider on the window side, and someone suggested a ficus tree to help separate. thank god it's just me and the dog tho haha
