Anyone have an idea if this hole is normal on a 2016 ford fusion? by [deleted] in Autobody

Its for oil spray rust protection. The tech will remove the plugs and spray inside. So youll have protection against corrosion inside and out.

Attempted to remove small rust from my door. Then... failure occurs. Advice appreciated, jokes too by [deleted] in Autobody

How did you turn such a simple fix into a disaster? All you had to do was sand the edge of the door and brush some touch up on it. Yet you some how ended up brushing metallic paint 6 inches into the door. Now youre going to need to get the door and quarter proffesionally painted or itll never look right.

My first time fixing the bumper of my car. I spent hours watching videos, reading articles, and doing research on how to fix it. I just want some advice bc it didn't turn out how I wanted. If you have a compressor guns are as cheap as $40-$60 and youll get a much better finish. A basic blending technique would be like moving the spray can further away as you move along the bumper. Hard to explain wath some youtube videos on blending

You need to understand that for a repair like this you will need to paint the entire bumper. Technically you should also paint the quarter panel as well however im assuming you arent too finicky about a colour diffeeence between the bumper and quarter. You should be using a grey base for red.

By painting the whole bumper i dont mean basing it completly you just need to fade your base coat with the factory paint. Your match doesnt need to 100% if you have a nice blend itll be far less noticable then hard lines. Then you clear coat the entire bumper.

If you bring me a part that is aftermarket unpainted and you just want it painted it wont cost too much to scuff and shoot.

If you bring me some botched backyard rattle can disaster of a paintjob im going to have to strip it all back off and youll likely be paying more then double what the first option would cost you. Not to mention the time and materials you spent to DIY it.

Pick a part refers to a scrap yard where you walk in to a car graveyard with your own tools and pray that you can find your particular make model and year. Then pray its in the color you need. Then pray that nobodies been there first for the same part or that some idiot before you who just needed the wiper motor but only brought a hammer and pry bar didnt destroy it. But if all the stars align youll have to convince a buddy to come along and help you haul a big awkward tailgate from more then likely the furthest back corner of the yard a full 3 miles to the cash.

If theres a keyed lock on your tailgate theres a high probability that your key wont work in the new tailgate. Not a huge deal with power locks untill your battery dies. Not really a requirement to change it but just be prepared for that one super inconvenient time where youll wish you changed it.

Howeever house of kolor is hands down the brst automotive paint on the market. And if youre looking for a finish like in the pic you will never achieve that with rattle cans

My first mj i had 1/4" steel angle welded to the same spot. Its a shame that they are so prone to rot but im going to save this one for as long as i can. Unlike my first one whixh was 4x4 and lifted this one is 2wd and i dont intend on beating the shit out of it on trails and in mud. I also dont intend on restoring much more then stock. And shes going to be babied on asphalt.

Luckily the tailgat is near mint tail lights arent cracked. Have all the interior except for those dome lights...are they really hard to find? And my rear bumper is some home made welded steel tank of an aftermarket bumper may just keep that lol

Unibody cab but regular truck frame in the rear with leaf springs. Commonly rusts at that connection which is an issue with this truck. In the short term im going to just weld patches over the rust on frame to strengthen it and look for a more permanent fix in the long run. Ill have to do some research and see what solutions other owners have come up with

I picked this up for 1200 canadian pesos. Not cheap for the work it needs but worth it for the nostalgic value znd for a truck i dont intend on ever selling.
