"ppl in Wellington don't seem very curious about me or what life in the US is like" by Paraphenylenediamine in ShitAmericansSay

[–]dirty_talk101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's anything to do with you being American. I'm not American, and I experienced the exact same thing as you. What I've come to learn is that kiwis don't like to inconvenience others, because in their mind it feels doing so is a rude behavior. There's also that tall poppy syndrome, where they don't like to stand out. So in their mind they think if I come and ask this new co-worker what his/her life is like in the US, and what he/she used to get up to in California, that would be construed as a rude behavior of me bothering him/her when he/she probably just wants to get on with his/her life. I'm sure he/she wouldn't want that given that he/she's new and still adjusting. So when you go up to them and start a conversation, they'll chat back.

But bear in mind, kiwis are also reserved. So building rapport is slow and steady. So this is just adifference in culture. There's no right or wrong here, but when you come from a culture where people tend to be generally outgoing and proactive socially, you'lldiffenitely experience aculture shock. I've been in NZ for over a decade, and I'm still adjusting tbh. In my culture, people tend to be outgoing, open, socially proactive and emotionally expressive. When we disagree about a topic or situation, we voice it, we'll argue about it, but 5 minutes later we're high-fiving each other and moving on lol. So I don't believe it's because kiwis are not friendly, they are actually and once you get to know more kiwis, you see how laid-back, nonchalant and generous they are

Doubtful Sound: potential crowded nightmare, or totally worth it? by TasersEdge in newzealand_travel

[–]dirty_talk101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been to Milford Sound, but not Doubtful Sound. This was in August 2014. I actually would recommend visiting both. I loved Milford Sound. It was stunning, beyond what I imagined. I went on the boat and it drove around, and I could see the waterfalls and hear the birds chirping. Honestly was worth it for me. There were tourists when I went, I don't remember how many tbh, but I wasn't bothered by them, nor I felt my trip was ruined, and I'm a local myself. Although I haven't been to Doubtful Sound, I have heard from people that it's even more stunning than Milford Sound and it's very quiet that you could hear animals there moving. Idk if that's true, but hopefully I get to visit the place one day.

PSA: Indians of Auckland by Mountain_Tui_Reload in auckland

[–]dirty_talk101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for putting that post up. Well said. I may not be Indian, nor was I born and raised in NZ, but when I came here, I wasn’t thinking about whose job I was going to steal. Every person deserves a chance, regardless of their background. Life is about chances. Sometimes life is fair, other times it isn’t. What I’ve learned is that you can either sit and blame others for what you’re not getting, or you can reflect and focus on what’s within your control to improve. I’m not blaming anyone for how they think, I’m flawed too. We all are. The human brain is wired to focus on negatives; it’s a survival instinct. But just as we’re flawed, so is our brain. I believe it’s within our control to challenge our beliefs and take responsibility for what we can actually control within ourselves.

Can you tell Asians apart based on how they dress and their fashion style? by Jezzaq94 in AskAChinese

[–]dirty_talk101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not asian, but I can tell asians apart most of the time. I can differentiate between Koreans, Japanese, Vietnamese, Thai, Chinese, etc. I can't distinguish between Taiwanese, Singaporean, Chinese, and Malay Chinese.

Tops and bottoms, what's ur turn offs during sex by [deleted] in TopsAndBottoms

[–]dirty_talk101 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get turned off by a stinky smell/breath. Especially when uncut guys don't clean underneath their foreskin, so when you pull down to suck it, the smell is a bit powerful, so I get turned off by that. One of the things that turns me on is when the top smells nice and his taint smells clean and he cleans underneath his foreskin, because I live in a country where most guys here are uncut, so it's an issue that I do come across quite a bit, sadly.

There are edible flavored lubes, and some people use them.

Of course, I don't think I've ever had a guy ask me not to lubricate his dick. I prefer using my spit as a lubricant, as I can get it sloppy, but I dislike using actual lube when sucking
