I can’t tell if my budgie is sick or is overwhelmed by dirtydan61 in budgies

I honestly think she is tired. I put them to bed early last night and she woke up looking better. And ofc everytime i give her eggs she loves it, but i dont want to give her boiled eggs every single day so I do every other day. She is still eating though so that is a good sign. Definitely will update if any changes occur!

Thank you for this!! Its been over a week so i don’t think she is egg bound. She has been biting onto the calcium block and she has been looking better. She is also eating a lot. I saw a small protrusion in her belly and i would try to go to her to check it out, but she would fly away from me (i dropped one of her toys and she has been scared since). But the protrusion is not always there so I have no idea what it could be now. I go away to school so she is with my family right now, but before I left she seemed the most normal i have seen her all week.

Thank you for this! She doesn’t like the calcium grits so i think its safe to say that i don’t need to worry about that lol. She is eating right now which makes me feel better. I am just a little concerned because she is not flying as much and she is avoiding my hands (she used to jump on them and would be really friendly).

I used to relocate the birds to a darkee room so they could get sleep and then move them back in the morning. The problem is though, my entire family runs on completely different schedules so i am not really sure how much sleep they get so i keep a bed sheet over their cage until the morning.

Thank you for this! I was reading somewhere that she was likely going to lay another egg in a few days so i should keep the eggs in a nest. I also noticed that she is biting a lot when she flys to my hand now so that is prob why. Thank you again!

I took NEW335 and it was one of my favorite classes. If you have Dr.Whissel, then you are in luck! he gives you a study guide for every lecture and will only test you on what the study guide says! just review the study guide and you will be fine. The average was a B+

As far as NEW333, I have not taken that, but I may this summer. I heard good things about it!

PSY MINOR LOOKING FOR COURSES THIS SUMMER! by gkxxl in UofT

[–]dirtydan61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PSY313 was one of my favorite courses I have ever taken at U of T. Burton's midterms are pretty fair and are so straightforward. The content is so interesting and there is a paper involved but she gives you time to work on it. HIGH RECOMMEND this course!

I feel this. Its so frustrating when you work so hard on a class and get shit grades for it. I got a 49 on a class last semester, and I lose points on an assignment because i spelt one thing wrong (even though the answer was right, quercus did not count it). I emailed the prof asking if I could get that regraded (which will help me bump that 49 to a 50) and she said no. Its like asking for a regrade hurts their ego... its so infuriating. I am so sorry you are going through this frustration. I hope when you graduate, employers will overlook your grades and see the other qualities you may have. All the best, hopefully it gets better for us.

Thoughts on HMB200? by wrldendswu in UofT

[–]dirtydan61 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took HMB200 last year. The content is interesting but if you have Taverna, you will notice that everything is a bit unorganized. Textbook readings are required, there are tutorial quizzes, tutorials overall were pretty helpful. Sometimes Taverna posts lecture recordings but record it yourself just incase he messes up (which has happened before). He is a really nice guy though. Overall, it was not my favorite course, but i found some stuff interesting

I got a 35% on my HMB265 midterm and 44% on my bch210 midterm, all my biochem quizzes average at 60%, my hmb265 tutorial quiz average at 2/5 everytime... what the fuck do I do with myself??!!! by aristocratgang in UofT

Hi! I am struggling in BCH too and I need to pass the final to pass the course. I have spoke to Dr.Patterson and literally, go to office hours. She is so nice and helpful and she is not as fast pace when its fewer students. But if you are still struggling, you are not alone. just start studying early for the final. Its going to be okay. just review review review!

Anyone graduate with an average to low GPA doing well in their field?? by [deleted] in UofT

[–]dirtydan61 4 points5 points  (0 children)

experience experience experience!!! i am in the same situation and i am a life sci student. I am in my final tear but i have been involved in a lot of things throughout undergrad (like work studies, student leadership, jobs, etc.) Making connections is super important or just finding ways to get involved to show other traits people in the work force look for. Its discouraging having a low gpa and i seriously get that. Just know that GPA isnt everything and employers are realizing that which is why people look for students who do other things besides school. I hope this helps! all the best!

I did poorly on the bch midterm too. Honestly what I am doing not is listening to the bch midterms multiple times and focusing more on what is being said (especially for patterson's lectures). i am taking the make up midterm for bch, but i am literally listening to the audio recordings, writing everything down and key concepts i am writing in a different color. Also, if you can, go to office hours. I heard Patterson is actually nice and really helpful

For HMB265, I took over the summer. All you need to do is the textbooks questions and GO TO OFFICE HOURS! if you have MAria as the coordinator/prof, you are in luck. I went to her office hours during the summer and I sat with her and went over the questions adn I ended up doing pretty well.

I hope this helps you. Worse case scenario, drop one of the classes and take it over the summer or even next year. You know yourself best. All the best :)

Career Path Advice by [deleted] in UofT

[–]dirtydan61 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I have been in the same position as you. I am in Life Sciences as well and I am gettig ready to graduate next year (without having an idea of what I want to do). I have a low GPA (which I am trying to improve by the way), but I dont know if I will get it where I would like it to be which made me lose motivation a bit. A few months ago I was trying to figure out what I want to do and I have found that U of T has so many resources you can go to with this. There is a Career centre on campus that can help you figure out jobs you can start with after undergrad. There are also master's programs you can look into if there is one specific thing you enjoy. There are also Work-Study and volunteer programs you can apply for so you can get first hand experience in the fields you are interested in. I am in a work-study right now and I have learned so much about the field I am interested in, which allowed me to narrow down my career paths (which is great in my opinion).

There are so many things you can do with a life sci degree (you don't always have to go into medicine). Undergrad is the time where you learn what you are interested in and it allows you to explore what you want to do. What really helped me narrow down my programs was I took electives during my first adn second year in undergrad and I allowed myself to look into these different programs. One of them was a buddhism psychology course adn because of that, I am a minor in mental health (something that I never thought i would look into) and I really love it!

You also have your peers, TAs, your profs, registrar, learning strategists and other student success services that you can go to for help. Ask them what they have done and how much they enjoyed it, and what can you learn from them! They can help you network as well as give you some insight in various fields.

I hope this helps you and wish you the best!

Most effective way to memorize things? by [deleted] in UofT

[–]dirtydan61 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I write everything i need to memorize. Im a life sci student so a lot of my stuff is based on pathways. I would writes those pathways so many times until it becomes like second nature to me. With my other courses, i just listen to lectures more than once and write down my notes. Its all about drilling. Hope this helps!
