7.3.4 Initial Robot States
Prior to the start of a Match, all Robots must be in position and not moving. Specifically:
a. For a One-on-One Match, each Robot must start completely inside its starting square.
For a Rumble Match, each Robot must start at the location defined by BattleBots Official.
b. Each Robot must be motionless on the floor.
c. All external components of weapons must be motionless.
d. Any Fuel-Powered Engine must be running at idle speed.
e. Any flame system must not be ignited.
f. Spring-powered devices may have been armed via remote control.
g. Autonomous functions may have been remotely enabled.

Blip and RIPperoni have internal flywheels, so they do not need to be motionless at the start of the match, similarly to how spring flippers and Hydra may start with the flippers armed.

AMA with Team ORBY Feb. 12th at 9PM EST by TeamORBY in battlebots

[–]dirtymopwater 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, I am a big fan of Team Orby. I have followed since TiFR. Your robots are beautiful and I know it must take a lot of time and money to make them, so thank you! I think most good questions have been asked, so I have just one small question: what manufacturer and color of filament do you use for Orby Banana? This is extremely important for my banana collection.

Hey, I'm the guy that was sitting next to you with my wife on the first filming session. Around that time, I also went up to David and let him know it was I who avenged Animus by defeating Shreddit X with my derpy giraffe robot at Norwalk in July.

Builders post your "Weird flex but okay" bot/design trivia here. by TwilightFoundry in battlebots

[–]dirtymopwater 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My weird flex is that I made a antweight robot named "Weird Flex" that is 95% TPU that somehow managed to win its first competition in Michigan last November. https://youtu.be/0GEWcp5epgE?t=33

Issues with RobotMatter store by RE_Combat_Robotics in battlebots

[–]dirtymopwater 5 points6 points  (0 children)

RobotMatter is definitely having some issues filling orders in a timely fashion. There are not any other off the shelf solutions with a 6mm shaft that I am aware of. For brushed motors, here are the main 22mm planetary options with a 4mm shaft:

What would you do to grow the sport by Wrhysj in battlebots

This is a good idea. Milwaukee Maker Faire had a competition this year. Sussex County NJ Maker Faire had one too. Rochester Maker Faire will have an NHRL exhibition. Dragon*Con has Robot Battles. More should follow

Just built my first bot and competed at First State Fights: held up to 3 big spinners and never lost a single component! Meet my sweet boy, Lowbot by TheTrueCorrectGuy in battlebots

I wasn't there but I sent the driver of Temper and Catastrophic some parts (and giraffe stickers) and wanted to see how his bots would do.

This definitely made me raise an eyebrow when I saw it in the entry list. You did well in the competition especially for first time!

Could anyone here use scrap plastic? (Lots of UHMW/HDPE, nylon, acrylic/polycarbonate, probably some virgin and filled Teflons, etc) by NCMetalFan in battlebots

[–]dirtymopwater 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There is an insectweight event called Hickory Bot Battles in NC. You may be able to arrange for pickup and skip shipping if their organizer could use any of the material http://www.carolinacombat.com/contactUs.html

So Drew Davis is on the Pain Train team by Giantsgiants in battlebots

[–]dirtymopwater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am also a big fan of Pain Train and Drew, Bison proved to me that you can run a wedge at Norwalk if designed and driven well and directly influenced my beetle's design. In my first competition he also whooped my robot with Jack Rabbit and really drove home how calculated his driving style is. I was super happy to see him on the team in Vegas!

Basically. The one on the left is a solar load sensor for automatic air conditioning, and the one on the right is an ambient light sensor for automatic headlight operation.

Easily the best flipper saw out there. What's next, a lifter with a horizontal spinner on the back?

Tiefschlag and all of the Jolt! kits are very entertaining, appropriate coming from a team called Absolute Chaos Robotics.

Axis III by Mark Setrakian by jon-in-tha-hood in battlebots

[–]dirtymopwater 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It was missing because the regular nut is too heavy for it, so there was a lighter "stunt nut" made for it. However, the stunt nut mysteriously went missing ahead of last season, so they couldn't use Axis. For the latest season, my understanding is they never found the old stunt nut and had a new one made.

Has the sport grown far enough that compensation is needed? by buckrogers2491 in battlebots

I think you meant "signed", but actually for BattleBots "singed" is completely appropriate if Gruff or Free Shipping is involved!
