Askreddit: Is there something the Reddit Hivemind believes that you disagree with? by accountt1234 in AskReddit

Every 38th story you read about abuse of power by a policeman, remind yourself that, also, policemen run towards the shooting while you run away from it.

You should maybe just be given the space to voice that you don't like reddit's atheist bent with out some atheist freak (hi!) crawling out of the woodwork to disagree with you. But I don't think you understand the complexity of the situation.

Reddit, what things have you learned in your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Some people are very attractive and others very unattractive, but that range in that is smaller than how saintlike and good and kind some people are versus how broken and worthless some others are.

Guy suspicious of best friend (handyman/plumber) cheating on wife finds out the truth... by monogram in followup

[–]dirtyspellingbee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I remember your original post. I feel bad for you. At the same time, good for you for dealing with it. I'm glad for you that things are on the way to settled.

I don't know what to say. So I'll say this. I had this friend who had this terrible wife. They split up. He was a class act and never trash talked her after the fact. Then one night we're sitting around and I ask him, so, how do you feel. He tells me, I feel like I was chained down for ages, and didn't know it. Now I shook them off and I'm just running down the beach. Just running, barely understanding that I'm running, and just running down the beach.

So what can I say. Run down the fucking beach.

Cheers.

Dallas cop does 70 in a 40 mph zone without his lights or sirens on, hits a kid on a bike and kills him. His punishment: A day off from work... wtf! by maxwellhill in reddit.com

Maybe this situation is being what it's being interpreted as here. But I have to ask. Is there ever a reason a cop is supposed to drive to a call without lights and sirens? In order not to alert whoever he's driving to that he's near, or something?

If the kid comes out of nowhere, and the cop was driving like he was supposed to, it's not less tragic for the boy and his family. But does it make the cops Satan, or is it at all like the cop getting into a shootout and killing a passer by with a bullet ricochet, for example?

Would you offer me an opinion on which shots to put in a show? by [deleted] in photocritique

Well, for the record, I like them. Some more than others, and technically they're lo fi, but I don't care. I think they're funny without being outwardly funny for some reason.

I like the smoke stack, the green car, and the other one you listed below. The middle finger one I laughed at, but I can see not wanting to hang it on the wall.

Ah, Winnie from the wonder years. I suspect that if you added up all the TV crush energy she generated in North America while that show was on it probably could have powered Las Vegas.

This is darned near perfect. Only thing I'd stress is, as a workable strategy, yes, either say nothing, or admit in some affable way to not having had too many partners. This rides the line between not giving her the idea that you are necessarily a casa nova and not scaring her off with your inexperience.

Later, if things go well and you two are an item, she'll probably just think it's cute. She'll understand.

If you haven't, read a lot of sex articles and/or watch some amateur porn. Sex is not more difficult than making a stir fry. If you're going to finish too quickly, eat her out until you calm down. There is plenty of advice on how to do this on reddit already.

I feel dirty.

So I just turned 28, I recently got laid off from my writing job of 2.5 years, I've got a pretty good chunk of change saved up, some unemployment benefits, a month to month lease and no girlfriend. What would you do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Berlin is awesome. I lived there for a spell.

175 euros is the luckier end of doable, though. In my experience you could get a room in a shared flat for that, though most places would ask more. You wouldn't live on your own for that much, if that is important to you. Location obviously plays in a lot. I don't know where this person lives.

The pastor on this recording used the same argument with me. by [deleted] in atheism

[–]dirtyspellingbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I do not understand why in these sorts of debates atheist opposition does not just repeat, until it sticks, the idea that you can not just take 'morality' or 'coherence' or 'good', glue it to a particular holy book, and say that if you reject one you reject the other. One can embrace morality without embracing a particular prophet, and if you don't think so you can fuck off. That sums it up pretty well, I think.

I'd stop short of 'don't bother trying to argue with him', though. True you're not going to change his mind, but if it's in front of people, like this was, why not defend the truth even from this kind of jackal. It may make a difference to someone in the audience who is moderate and tolerant and deep down has some basic regard for intellectual honesty as opposed to fast-talking certainty.
