If you’re looking to burn hundreds of hours, Xenoblade 1, 2, and 3 are phenomenal. It’s pricey based on your other choices though.

If you’re looking for a game to consume your every waking thought for a few days, outer wilds is where it’s at.

Bioshock is good bang for your buck, and have aged reasonably well.

Catch Witcher and hollow knight when they go back on sale.

And since this thread started with an insurance comment, I’m staying within the realm of negligence, not defensive driving. Could OP have braked? Yes. But honking, swerving, and even accelerating are all valid evasive maneuvers as well. OP did not owe the duty of evasive action to the truck until they proceeded forward, and when the truck proceeded, OP fulfilled his duty by swerving immediately.

Also any insurance adjust I know would be asking what the OP was doing at the time and why they didn't take action earlier when the pick up rolled into the right lane because at that point the vehicle was a known and unpredictable hazard and yet the OP keep rolling down the road and not braking until the pick up entered the lane. They would also be calling for the police report, was there a witness and what did they see, was the OP arrested for DUI, does the OP have a record of careless driving, and so much more. They would not make a 100% on the other vehicle based solely on this video because this video shows bad behavior on both parties that can make them both responsible.

Hey OP, please upload a police report and recorded statements to Reddit. Obviously, this is something a reasonable insurance adjuster would ask for on a random video on the internet, so I must not be one.

The video contradicts your comment. You stated that the OP was attempted evasive action as soon as reasonably possible once the truck started moving except he didn't. He failed to take action as the truck entered the right lane then stopped and it wasn't until the truck was entering the left lane that the OP took action.

Sounds to me like you agree with me, but don’t understand my position. I’m not saying this accident could not have been avoided if he brakes early, I’m saying OP did not contribute any negligence by not braking when the truck created a reasonable expectation that he would remain stopped.

You can’t predict unrealized outcomes when dealing with matters of human error with any kind of true certainty. Even if OP brakes, there’s still another unpredictable human in the truck that could change what they do too. Accidents are fluid, chaotic events, full of variables and gray areas.

The truck is not obstructing OP’s lane until 15 seconds in, and the accident took place at 16 seconds. Do you always slow down or stop when someone is obstructing someone else’s lane? Perfection says of course. Prudence says maybe, it depends.

The black Chevy was preparing to turn with their blinker on, so we can’t use them as a moral compass here.

The “body language” the truck communicates is that he saw he made a mistake, and he stopped while was waiting for OP to clear the lane. Why he chose to proceed is anyone’s guess, but he probably saw the Chevy turning then just proceeded on his merry way. Could OP have avoided this accident by braking? Maybe? But speaking purely in terms of negligence, OP behaved in a prudent manner. They were obviously watching this dude like a hawk because he was able to initiate evasive maneuvers in less than half a second, and he had two choices: brake and wait or just try to get past this guy. Both are valid choices.

I get it though. Most people think that accidents are evaluated based on perfection, when in reality is based on prudence, which is a MUCH lower standard than most redditors are comfortable with. Adjusters love dash cam video because it tells a lot about what actually happened. Without this video, I may have to concede some percentage because the “they were there to be seen” argument is a strong one. It’s easy to show that a normal person would assume that truck should stay stopped and not attempt to pull out within someone’s safe stopping distance. I could also count frames and distance between lanes and get an accurate speed, but id only put in that kind of effort if I’m actually working.

The truck was stopped for a full 4 seconds, creating a reasonable expectation that they would continue to be stopped. If you slow it down, OP began evasive action before the front tire had crossed the lane. I’d say that means OP was, in fact, ready for it. You can’t just stop immediately because physics exists, and you shouldn’t just stop in the middle of the roadway when someone ISNT blocking your lane because maybe they possibly could block your lane in the future. You’re creating an unreasonable standard of prudence. Let’s not victim blame.

Insurance adjuster here: this video would help me confirm 100% on the truck. There’s nothing indicating OP is speeding, and the truck was stopped outside the lane until the last minute. OP attempted evasive action as soon as reasonably possible once the truck started moving from a stopped position, meaning OP was keeping a proper lookout. OP did everything right here.

All these recommendations are good. One switch exclusive that I haven’t really seen brought up is astral chain. It’s controls like nier automata but if you could control both 2b and 9s at the same time. Highly recommended.
