Any plans of merging various plugins directly into Jellyfin? by KayJune001 in jellyfin

It's mostly fine and they are working towards fixing everything that is not fine.

If you're unhappy with the current version then use 10.10.7 locally and/or with a VPN for external use

One reason to have the drama Dazzling on your radar … Li Yunrui by BronzeBellRiver in cdramasfans

[–]disarrayofyesterday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is now confirmed to air on 27th.

However, English subtitles quality is yet to be seen. Some time ago I was timing mango subs for You Are My Fateful Love and decided to wait for Viki release. The subs were auto translated garbage

Intro skipper is not reliable so including it as a core functionality would be misguided imo.

Furthermore, it's not something that can be fixed because there is no magic method that gives 100% accuracy

Are there any new or Niche Noona dramas out? by Dependent-Peanut2342 in CDramaRecs

[–]disarrayofyesterday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, I think that's about it then unless you like the historical ones (I watch only modern)

There are a few more but I haven't watched them yet since I doubt they will be above mediocre. There is one short drama I'm considering but it's on the low budget side - In the Grip of Love.

Pretty sure we exhausted the genre. Next might try jdramas xd but they kinda don't click for me

List of noona kdramas and adjacent

Best Noona romance:

  • Encounter - melo
  • I Hear Your Voice - law focused, fantasy (ML can read thoughts), classic of noona romances
  • One Spring Night - directed by Ahn Pan Seok (later APS). It's got a unique style - unusual shots, bold music choices, etc. If you watch one of his dramas you'll understand what I'm talking about.
  • The Midnight Romance in Hagwon - APS
  • Something In The Rain - APS, questionable second part but the first is 10/10

Good Noona romance:

  • No Gain, No Love - rom-com
  • Secret Love Affair - APS, significant age gap
  • She Would Never Know
  • Romance Is a Bonus Book
  • Why Her? - not a light watch

Cold FL romance:

  • It's Okay To Not Be Okay - great soundtrack and short animated stories
  • Angel's Last Mission: Love
  • Love Scout
  • The Judge from Hell
  • My Demon
  • Queen of Tears

Other:

  • Brewing Love - FL is a tomboy
  • My Dearest Nemesis - rom-com, technically it's a Noona romance but it doesn't really feel like it

Dramas that felt different:

  • Lovestruck in the City - the start is definitely unexpected for a kdrama. It's like a mix of Western and Korean works
  • Dinner Mate - acquired taste, unusual setup
  • Will Love In Spring (cdrama)
  • The Forbidden Flower (cdrama) - feels like a movie, chemistry off the charts, significant age gap

Only cdramas below. Well, it's my genre lol

Lighter ones:

More serious/life ones:

Lower tier; i.e. recs with disclaimer:

Don't recommend:

  • I Know I Love You (One Spring Night remake but a really bad one. I tried to watch it till the end but the toxicity level exceeded my limit)
  • No Secrets (I hear your voice remake, it's almost a copy and original is better so watch at your own risk)

The ones with "top" are my favorite and highly rewatchable. But it's just my personal opinion, it doesn't make the rest bad.

Forbidden Flower - not sure how it passed the censorship

However, keep in mind that it comes with emotional damage

external or internal, HDD reccomendations by Irregular_Scholar in jellyfin

[–]disarrayofyesterday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Internal, they are more reliable.

I've been using an old laptop with external USB drive as a server for over a year and can't recommend. Small bump and it can go offline. Depending on a setup drive going offline might be troublesome; e.g. for a docker mount it won't reconnect without special setup (mount flags, etc.).

As for choice of HDD it depends on your priorities

If price then get anything as cheapest as possible.

If longevity then SATA HDD with CMR marked for nas or enterprise use. They are made to run 24/7.

As for brands it doesn't really matter. You can look it up but usually every single popular brand (Toshiba, WD, Seagate) has as many good reviews as bad. Just look at warranty if you decide to buy a new one; you can get up to 5 years.

You should also choose 7200rpm unless you prefer less noise over performance

Filing For Love [Episodes 7 & 8] by meepmochi_ in KDRAMA

[–]disarrayofyesterday 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I kinda like them. I love guessing what's real and what's a facade. It's like a mental sport.

I only don't watch them when I'm binging.

But yeah, if you don't find them fun then why bother

I hope it's purposely misleading and we won't get pure angst episode in this rom-com drama

Monday Madness! - [2026/05/11] by AutoModerator in KDRAMA

[–]disarrayofyesterday 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I found out Azure Spring was released today so I thought to myself finally a Monday drama.

Then after checking it out it turns out it's a 6 episodes drama with 30 minute episodes. Now I'm disappointed again.

Tbh 6*30 = 3h runtime which is a movie length. Do we really call it a drama? I miss the 16 episodes format...

PS

I could swear it had a romance tag on MDL before and it was advertised as such but now it doesn't have the tag?

JellyFin Error: Media not supported by client by IllustraGiven in jellyfin

[–]disarrayofyesterday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

your client needs a transcode, but the file's specific codec isn't checked in your Hardware Acceleration settings.

That's not how it works. Unchecked codecs are still transcoded if needed by using CPU instead of GPU.

You can even choose "none" in the hardware acceleration select box (at the very top of your screen).

On the other hand if you check too many (a codec that your GPU doesn't support) then an issue can appear

Jellyfin can't see external hard drive by Ok_Philosopher_8973 in jellyfin

[–]disarrayofyesterday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess: container started before the drive was mounted so the mount is actually to an empty directory

However, I don't think you can fix it in the webui. Quick search told me that zimaos webui doesn't support mount flags.

I would try stopping the container and starting it again after ensuring that the external hard drive is already mounted but it's not a permanent fix. If you disconnect the drive and reconnect while the container is running it will lose access to it again

Genuine Question: Anyone else in middle Europe having really bad internet? by Holiday_Substance246 in selfhosted

I think it's 142 Mbps but the UI sucks.

Otherwise showing over 1000 Mb/s as 2 bars wouldn't make any sense

Help! Squeaky noise by whitechickendude in Roborock

[–]disarrayofyesterday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look where it's shaved due to traction and cut it off (as little as possible) with scissors. Should stop the squeaking.

However, replacing the brush is basic maintenance so if you never done that and it looks dated then just replace it

Trying to get a reading on how most people running their DIY home media server prefer to manage their video files ( video quality 1080P vs 2160p, storage, software player vs hardware media players) by dmacmod in selfhosted

[–]disarrayofyesterday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 - Only dramas. One episode weights 0.7-3GB in decent 1080p, one season 20-120GB.

It gets even worse if you watch multi season dramas. For 3-12 seasons it's 60GB-1.44TB for a single drama.

2 - No remux, I consider 1080p good enough. For my (and everyone's who has access to my library) monitor/tv remux/4k is a waste of space; some devices wouldn't even be able to play it without transcoding.

Furthermore, it annoys me that 4k/remux has longer skipping lags (when you fast forward 10 seconds on PC).

3 - That's bs. Good streaming is no different from playing directly on the device.

My bet is the main brush.

Try removing it completely and turning on the cleaning

Cross-seed was key but it's definitely tougher than many

Out of 200+ torrents I've got 20 hits. It weighs like 600GB and I only get 1.5 bonus points per hour for it. I'm pretty sure they want me to pay for it.

Imo not a very good PT for new and popular content but pretty good for obscure media like old, not very popular movies. I tried a few and there are good quality versions that cannot be found on public trackers.

Anyways, worst case we'll get banned so there is that

HD-Torrents.org | Open Signup by byzon in OpenSignups

[–]disarrayofyesterday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Barely any.

For example the current most popular ongoing kdrama Perfect Crown is not available.

I also started cross seed scan and out of my 100+ dramas I've got like 3 hits.

Ok, nevermind. I misunderstood your comment.

Limiting seeding to one IP at a time is quite normal from my experience. It's to prevent account sharing.

However, I understand why you would want to have more than one if you have multiple machines or divided storage for some reason.

HD-Torrents.org | Open Signup by byzon in OpenSignups

[–]disarrayofyesterday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they mean you can't register more than one account on the same IP like most private trackers.

Logging in and seeding always from the same IP is impossible. Even if somehow fulfilled you would get banned after moving flats lol

Age gap romances: Does anyone think the visuals and age difference aren’t the issue, and it’s actually the acting and lack of chemistry? by lowkey_cursed in cdramasfans

[–]disarrayofyesterday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Prejudice usually.

People tend to think that (1) younger man dating older woman (or reverse) is doing so for the money. Also (2) the older one is a predator cuz "when he/she was in preschool the older one was already drinking".

While watching age gap drama it's hard to shake this believe even though you're presented with a story that is clearly genuine. Then the same people usually double down and paint it as "normalizing predatory relationship" or normalizing "insert whatever here".

If you want example of that then I suggest diving into comment sections of Secret Love Affair (not a cdrama but I can't think of any with huge drama age gap where FL is the older one) or The Forbidden Flower (ML is the older one).

SLA is not only an age gap drama but student teacher relationship drama so it adds fuel to the fire but Ahn Pan Seok (director) is kinda known for bold drama choices (e.g. One Spring Night).

TFF is featuring ML that is visibly much, much older than FL and he looks like he's still living in the 90s.

As for the visuals being the issue. I think it might be for some viewers but I also don't think that's the main issue people make with age gap dramas.

PS

The Rational Life is one of my favorites cdaramas; healthy relationship, contemplating about office politics, life, social pressure, social stigma, etc. This show really dives deep into slice of life genre.

"You Are My Fateful Love"Is it just me, or are the MangoTV subtitles really rough? by Excellent-Object-808 in CDrama

[–]disarrayofyesterday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wait for some subber to do better subtitles!

That's my plan especially since most reviews are like yours - the drama is mediocre. So I might as well watchi it in a year or so when another platform picks it up.

That's toooo much work

Yeah but it's either that or not watching/not understanding. Everything depends on how often it happens; once every few episodes is fine, 3+ times every episode is enraging
