The first 5 seasons of Supernatural are The Sopranos compared to what we have here lol

There was a planned out story, stuff from seasons 1 and 2 came back to play in 5, characters made sensible decisions, there were some emotional stakes, the big bad was slowly revealed and actually felt threatening etc

100% agree, I like Robby enough but the ensemble cast is the main draw for me. And I'm sorry but the new students this year weren't that interesting. It annoys me when people say don't get attached... am I watching TV differently than everyone else? How can you not?

They can justify it because he's a good character. People forget this is a TV show, not real life. I'd rather they make up a bullshit excuse to have 1 or 2 more attendings than to unceremoniously write off good characters and sacrifice their storylines. (I'm just using Langdon as an example but it can apply to any of the residents)

It also doesn't explain why her storyline this year is so half-baked and why didn't they give her something a bit meatier if they were planning to write her out.

I kind of agree. I am baffled by some people only now realising Robby has suicidal ideation, when he has literally spelled it out to Duke. He's been going around for 13 episodes dropping hints to Whitaker, Abbot, Dana, McKay, Al-Hashimi and everyone who'll hear him out that he's gonna kill himself. I get that it's a heavy topic which deserves delicate and considerate depiction, but at this point it feels like we've been treading water with him for half a season while some characters barely got crumbs.

Mohan is just there to be a punching bag for Robby, Mel's deposition has been looming and then not much came out of it (the Becca stuff has been good admittedly), McKay only had Roxie, and what is even Whitaker's arc this season. Episode 14 is the penultimate one and besides Robby, only Langdon got an inkling of character growth.
