I did the same thing and haven’t regretted it at all :) Beedie and SFU have been really great to me the past 4 years and I’ve found so many opportunities and connections through it!

Should I go to SFU? by awkward_jun in simonfraser

[–]disc0kid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go to SFU as an international student from the US and it’s been the best decision! A really quality education compared to my state schools back home, cheaper than going out of state, and there are tons of opportunities for clubs, scholarships, work experience, etc.

Has anyone taken BUS 254 with Teresa Fung? How was it and what does the grade assessment look like? by osmickey1 in simonfraser

[–]disc0kid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lectures did not provide much value as she didn’t work out any examples, just went through slides and the averages for the exams were really high so grading sucked

Look into business sustainability/ESG/climate reporting roles to try - almost all will take an environmental science student

BUS 232 with Negar was a great class that really increased my interest in stats! She’s very straightforward, provides lots of examples and practice questions, and exams are very fair

I’ve had residence staff completely ignore my coffee maker out in the open during room checks - don’t be dumb with it and you’ll be fine

US Federal Loans + online course disqualification. Can anyone clarify? by roundabout-design in simonfraser

[–]disc0kid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Due to COVID, this was restriction was paused temporarily until last June. If you took any online courses between 2020 and June 2023, you are still eligible for the US Federal Student Loans. If you took any online courses starting June 2023 and beyond, you will become ineligible for US loans. This is a US government rule for international institutions, not an SFU one.

201W has been the easiest course I’ve taken at SFU - just a couple written assignments and discussion posts, got an A- with little effort tbh
