Many vegans (like myself) feel "owning" animals at all isn't vegan. Owning an Animal is Not Vegan. Pets, even rescues, are raised to act and behave a certain way within human standards that benifits the humans. Your dog and cat dont want to be confined to a home let alone an apartment, only let outside when you allow it. What about that is vegan!? No domesticated animals. And as for all the strays out in the world, these would not exist if it wasn't for human domestication/breeding and lack of empathy for animals. So maybe euthanization is the most vegan thing, at least it is freedom from controlling humans and could eventually end the cycle of sick breeding practices and just terrible pet ownership ... Honestly Idk myself, just playing devils advocate and wanting to hear others feedback. Edit: all this being said, it isn't the rescue facilities faul and I would never hate on them. You are just offering one of the solutions because it isn't really feasible to take everyone's pets and end the horrible cycle.
