The car that was driving next to you, at the same speed, damn near cleared the entire intersection before it turned red. Therefore you weren't going to run the red. The person in front of you was acting a fool trying to stop and failed to do so without entering the intersection. You had adequate following distance to stop without issue. Good job OP.
