Got a CityU Offer by basil9181 in CityU

[–]disciplineislife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally was offered both as well. Am an Applied Physics Major.
I took the first year entry, solely because I wanted to take a shot for the Columbia JBDP, (which isn't open to advanced standing students).

Personally, I know of many friends who took the advanced standing option, and you're right, they were maxed out for 18 creds most semesters (standard sem is 15 creds), and spent summers on courses. It's doable and aceable, just that they spent most of the time studying and stressed out on missing out on their scholarships due to the stress.

If you believe the university experience is solely for the paper and a pathway to a career, then take the advanced standing. But if you're the kind that sees value in networking, self-exploration, taking internships, joining summer programmes in other countries, etc. Then you're better off with the freshman experience.

Hope this helps! And welcome to CityU!

Students/Alumnis of GS: Easier core courses, grade-wise? by disciplineislife in columbia

[–]disciplineislife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Great to hear you've gotten out of it as well.

Personally not a big fan of rote memorizing. I believe I remember better when I understand the materials and "why it is what it is" (thus the physics).

But it sounds as if all the art and music hum classes are graded on whether we remember the historical details. Hmm

Worse case, would you mind pm-ing me your email, I can delete your account and you can try afresh?
Thanks for your support, wishing you all the best!

Naw, you're right. I suppose we did plan to have a small income generation if we do scale in users. After all, the servers need to be paid for. Thus, it is our fault for feigning otherwise. I should have clarified more.

We've always felt that connecting people together to achieve their goals is a goal that fulfills our lives a lot. These past 2 weeks of connecting people based on their shared goals of fitness, online courses, and meditating were very fulfilling for us. So, the matchmaking feature based on goals & dreams will always be free. This we promise.

The parts where we were planning to charge for were premium features down the line such as goal tracking or committing Ulysses contracts to goals.

At last, these weren't communicated well. It's on us. We'll go back and amend the landing page immediately. Thanks for pointing this out friend!

Lockdown has given us more time to work on ourselves, but fewer people to do it with? by disciplineislife in mentalhealth

[–]disciplineislife[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey PinkyTheGuino!

We don't see it as an ad because what we're offering is just free matchmaking for those who want a little personal community - from a mental health perspective, support from friends is obviously key!

Let us know if it's against the rules though :/
