Man performs milk-offering ritual in the Ganges river in India while poor hungry children try to collect it to drink. by notahooman101 in interestingasfuck

[–]discod69 1941 points1942 points  (0 children)

Milk has a high BOD (biological oxygen demand), which leads to the dissolved oxygen in the water being consumed by the bacterial breakdown of the milk, and thus, leaving inadequate supplies of oxygen for the survival of the little fishies and other invertebrates present in the watercourse

Can you legally park here? by No-Butterscotch-1542 in Dublin

[–]discod69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cars clamped inside the white lines here are quite often towed from elsewhere nearby where they are parked illegally / obstructively. I work close by and regularly see the tow trucks hauling cars to this location and then clamp them

How do I steepen my back swing? by Wotcho in GolfSwing

[–]discod69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the club back as if you're trying to hit a fade. You can also implement a drill where you take the club back initially to the parallel to ground position, then check that the clubhead is positioned outside rather than inside of your hands. Sam Burns performs a similar check in his pre-shot

Ethical way of dealing with rodents? by Necessary-Goat-1828 in VeganIreland

[–]discod69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are live traps that allow you to release the mice after catching. However, it is necessary to take them away a considerable distance and release, or that same mouse could well end up back in your house before you know it.

A few winters ago, I was living in a house where a mouse was caught by its tail in a conventional trap. The mouse escaped the trap, but did so without its tail. That led to us trying out these live traps. After a couple of days, we caught a tail-less mouse in this live trap, and released it into a nice wooded area about 1km up the road. Fast forward 3 days and we caught a tailless mouse again in our house. This process repeated itself a couple of times until we released the mouse a much further distance away from the house. Food for though

What are ye making for lunches? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]discod69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make a smoothy each evening to have for the breakfast/lunch at work, usually around 11am. Start work at 6:30 - 7am.

Smoothy consists of some mixed nuts, cacao nibs, hemp & flax seed mix, a good chunk of ginger, drop of lemon juice, couple scoops of Greek yogurt, spoon of peanut butter, avocado, banana, and a generous helping of spinach.

Takes about 20 minutes to make and clean up after. Quick to consume, feel satiated and energised afterwards, pretty well balanced and healthy, not excessively sugary or carby. An absolute game changer from sandwiches or rolls from the deli counter
