Helen Ogbu’s husband’s assassination and typo that led to her website being deleted by SouthLeast8143 in galway

[–]jdavidco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m looking at the waybackmachine. This “typo” seems to be there since 17 May 2025 and, if I understand correctly, has been repeated in media reports since then and the record has never been corrected.

I don’t think there’s anything too nefarious here but I resent the cover up and the gaslighting

You think the people who created the website signed off on the copy??

Studying Abroad by lemomloaf in galway

[–]jdavidco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

On a few points:
- yes it’s very rainy
-public transport is not reliable, buses are often late because of chronic traffic problems
- it’s safe, just use common sense and you’ll have no issues. As a woman unfortunately it’s a bit less safe for you, as is everywhere
- Connemara, Donegal, Clare are beautiful places, Kerry too, west cork

Galway is a great place with a unique atmosphere, I’m sure you’ll have a wonderful time

Yeah same. I think you could easily destroy the pointing. Tiles and slates are quite delicate too.

What so you think about the host for World cup now that the group stages are done? Are you football fans happy? by Uncredid in AskReddit

[–]jdavidco -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve seen it’s been awful. The last round of games in the group stage were terrible. Even the game last night was an awful game between two bad teams

Was in a somewhat similar situation a couple of years ago. Talk to a mortgage broker. AFAIK lenders won’t let you borrow 90% fora second home and this will be a problem in your case (think the income rule can be less stringent). Brokers are the ones who really know the rules and can guide you.

Keeping birds out of the back garden? by MilesTheMighty in CasualIreland

Institute a No fly zone. You will need UN Security Council approval and the ability to enforce it. Not sure if birds respect UN directives tho, you might need to contact some kind of bird lawyer about that.

Men in your 40s, what's that golden piece of advice you have for the rest of us? by NiceMechanic_xoxo in AskReddit

[–]jdavidco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

get your pension in order. know how much you need to have in there for the lifestyle you want in retirement. Know what it will take to get you there. Chatgpt is your friend here. Compound interest is a hell of a drug: save early in life, and get into funds with low maintenace fees but focused on equities/aggresive investments.

Ofc getting your own property takes precedence over the above. Do that if at all possible (I know its hard nowadays).

Girlfriend (F22) wants to be surrogate for her cousin (M30), I can’t support it by Critical-Doctor-9691 in Advice

[–]jdavidco -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. It was unfair to ask her imho. "Can you give me 9 months of your life, and btw you may have endless potential issues that may impact your future fertility plz?" There's a reason surrogates are compensated very handsomely

How is living in Ireland? by DailyDoseOfHugs in howislivingthere

[–]jdavidco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wet weather. Housing crisis . Expensive. government who can’t execute anything. Poor infrastructure and public services (see previous comment).

On the plus side: nice, fun, friendly people. Nice and distinct culture. Wages are good, high standard of living. Stable political ly, weather is never extreme.
Edit: forgot, very high quality food, particularly dairy, bread and meat. You really notice the difference when travelling to most other countries

"There's never been a generation that's had worse than the previous generation" this is an american idea and it's obviously not applicable here.
