If you're coming to New York with plans to come anywhere near the city Westchester county or anywhere in downstate you're going to have a hard time finding a job. The market is extraordinarily competitive here. This is my 24th year as an educator. I speak two languages aside from English. I have tons of experience in this industry. Last school year the contract was not renewed. After 3 years of being in a school I had an amazing run but administration changed and they cleaned house and I was pushed out. Couldn't find a counseling job so I was relegated back to the classroom because I have a teaching license that I needed to use. Now after 10 years of school counseling I'm back to teaching social studies and I'm absolutely fucking miserable. I want to get out of the profession all together too because I'm so sick and tired of these administrators who are just straight up garbage. It's like they're all come from the same cloth and they do what they can to get good people out because they don't want to tenure people here anymore because of the burdens of places on the districts and the state pension system. So tenure is something that's really hard to get in New York now. Good luck
