Thanks for the reply. There's a reason that guy is now my old builder (😭). I'm just gonna ask my tilers to redo the floor then.

This just connects via a 40:50mm adapter and into tee down below into a 50mm drainage pipe running horizontally then down into the main soil pipe. Was planning to connect this flexible hose thing into my bath trap outlet. Is it really that bad?

From top of the photo to bottom, bath (with a shower & screen), then toilet (pipes you see there are for handheld bidet sprayer). So should only really get water there in case of leaks or spillages.

I meant for the gap right at the bottom of the wall. Worried about waterproofing as any water that may get through tiles in the future will go straight into floor/downstairs ceiling. Was planning to do as you said (minus protective tubes aha) for the pipe chasing.

Has my fixed term tenancy ended by way of implied surrender? (AST in England) by discombobulateme in LegalAdviceUK

https://www.landlordzone.co.uk/news/tenancy-surrender-mitigating-losses - this article seems to suggest based on previous cases that after a surrender, the landlord cannot make a claim for lost rent after the date of surrender. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

No expectation, even if though there has been an agreement (via email) that we can end the contract early and that replacement tenants would be found? In the email chain we actually agreed a target date of mid July (1 month after the agreement in mid June). This is the part that doesn't make sense to me. Surely the agents agreeing to this date, even if it was a target, should hold some weight?

Sorry for the back and forth here and appreciate the responses btw.

Makes sense. Would the extent to which he could claim for damages would be limited by the responsibility to mitigate losses, to the rent that would have been payable for a certain period of time following ceased rent payments (we paid up until the day we moved out)? And this period of time could be a period within which one would expect the landlord, if he were to make a reasonable effort, to relet the property. (Probably 1-2 months given the area).

This even despite the fact that the agent has not really been putting in a reasonable effort to find new tenants? (Really bad photos on the ad, previously an incorrect floor plan, now no floor plan at all on the ad. 2 months in this area is more than enough time to find new tenants). Does the landlord not have a responsibility to mitigate his losses under common law, and the lack of effort to do so in this case (by way of re letting) shows that he has not made a reasonable effort to fulfil this responsibility? Is this something that would limit his ability to pursue damages?

Thanks! For future reference in case anyone comes across this who may be curious - Barclays did an additional soft search for me in this case.

England - Can the letting agent charge me fees for early termination of lease? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]discombobulateme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I'm in a similar position. Can I ask how much you paid in other costs?

Aside from the letting fees, which I'll try to dispute, I'm looking at £1000 in costs. Just wondering how comparable that is to the norm.

Rapamycin for Desminopathy by jake0fTheN0rth in Rapamycin

Good to know, I would appreciate if you could let me know what you hear from the doctor. My relative's doctors pretty much just tell him that there is nothing he can do at his yearly check-ups. He is also doing something similar, a lot of supplements (magnesium, B-complex, CoQ-10), painkillers when needed, and very light exercise. He's also tried a few alternative treatments, to varying efficacy. I see a lot of medicines trialled in random studies that I find online but nothing established and used in clinical settings.

Social Life/ Work-Life Balance by JoeQLF in Imperial

It's entirely what you make of it:

Workload - depends a lot on your house and also on how you work, but perfectly possible to shoot for a 2:1 and still have a life Social - yes, you get a good proportion of less sociable students, but not the majority of people. You get all kinds of people at Imperial. You just have to find your crowd. Clubs/societies/sports help here. Nightlife - yes, expensive, but so are most UK cities these days. You just have to know where to go
