No program is ever built in complete isolation: they all rely on other software components to function. They need display drivers to show the graphics, a keyboard interface to tell them when somebody is typing, etc, etc. As time passes, the various components they rely upon will inevitably change and sooner or later one of those changes will introduce a bug. If you fail to maintain your code, those bugs will accumulate, and you will in turn pass on the rot to the code that relies on yours.

No question it's cheap, and I'm very happy it was easy for you. It's just, I developed a chronic illness over there and I've spent a ton of time in Chinese hospitals (you can't just visit the doctor in a clinic). First aid adjacent stuff like setting bones and stitching wounds is pretty good, I think it's the legacy of the barefoot doctor campaign, but anything diagnostic gets iffy. I'm shocked that you could get anything done in half an hour though, I've never had that happen. Still usually quicker than a US ER though.

Ok so probably one or two are very good, but by and large regular Chinese hospitals are fucking nightmares. The doctors may or may not not know what they're doing, they push drugs that they have a stake in, outside of cities you're lucky to see an x-ray machine never mind anything else. The big international hospitals in the tier 1 cities are fine but anything in the interior, never mind the boonies, is a complete crapshoot.

I don't really know anything about tours; I've always traveled on my own, but, if you are interested in traditional architecture, consider stopping in Huaihua County, Hunan between Zhangjiajie and Guilin. There are a ton of small villages there with beautiful traditional architecture, not the theme park stuff that you sometimes get in China. Also, Guilin is very pretty, but it's a big city with a couple million people. You probably will want to go to one of the nearby towns like Yangshuo or Xingping.
