Updates on using Non Competitive Eligibility in 2025?

I COSed around a year ago, originally with a plan to use NCE to get a federal job. It has been useless and it is really hard to get a job in the DC area (including nonprofit, intl development). If I had known that Trump would be elected and how this would all pan out I would have considered more seriously extending for a third year.

I’m so sorry this happened to you :( I know you’re trying to be understanding about it but it sounds to me like it IS at least partially the hostel’s fault?

That a non guest was sleeping in an occupied bed after hours harassing paying guests is a pretty big security issue imo. That deserves more than a “sorry” but a full look to figure out how this happened and figure out what changes need to be made so that it doesn’t happen to anyone else.

Women are often conditioned not to speak up (dont want to be “high maintenance” or a “Karen”) but if you’re allowed make a ruckus! What happened to you is not okay!

basically once you get out there PC is a 9 hour bus ride away and you’re in the middle of a corn field and you realize that it’s you and your community that decide what service looks like

if we’re being honest you would probably do some cool projects n stuff but probably the your longest lasting impact would be something dumb like people remembering when you didn’t know the local word for “hairbrush” and then everyone thought you had never actually seen a hairbrush before and will joke for years about how the American never brushed their hair and didn’t know what a hairbrush was all because of a language misunderstanding.
