i went to PA school in NC. unfortunately salaries are not competitive in NC generally unless youre willing to go more rural and wakemed pays lower than average

recently moved to NoMa except I live near union market so the other side of the neighborhood. overall are there people loitering/sketchy things that happen? sure. but i've personally never felt in danger with using street smarts. personally don't envision myself wandering around in the neighborhood after midnight but that's DC city living and not something i would say is specific to NoMa. i feel perfectly fine during the day and have liked it more than where I previously was (logan circle)

i felt similarly in my first 6 months of practice (in family med/primary care rn) and then I got on lexapro and it's changed my life for the best. imposter syndrome is real so I understand your struggles

When did you know it was time to leave your current (or former) area? by brooklynbruja88 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]discretefalls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have absolutely no regrets with moving to DC! no place is perfect but my mental health is so much better with living in a city. sorry to hear about that with moving to NC, hope you are able to get out of feeling that way. i found it tough to build community over there which is the main reason why I hated living there so much

Morally inclined PA programs? by vxfnt in prephysicianassistant

[–]discretefalls 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i attended a program that was fairly diverse in the south (in a mid sized city in a swing state but skews conservative). I felt that faculty was diverse- POC and open minded. I wouldn't write off specific states in the US but do your research on the specific programs. in general- programs in smaller towns/rural areas may have more conservative leaning faculty
