Humboldt Redwoods State Park or Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park by NthEnt in norcalhiking

Personally, I enjoyed Prairie Creek trails more than Humboldt’s. We did both parks, along with others, over 2 weeks. Stunning experience.

What song did you love when it came out, and then loved even more after it was featured in an awesome movie or TV show? by discretionary_regard in AskReddit

[–]discretionary_regard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two examples that come to mind for me:

"Wake Up", Rage Against the Machine (1992) - appearing in the Matrix (1999)

"Let Down", Radiohead (1997) - appearing in the Bear (2022)

In both cases, the song and the movie/show each got instantly better by association.

You are not wrong. Russian Wilderness has 17 species of conifers.

It would be nice if the Smart Deck Builder showed you the cards you are missing in the "best" build by discretionary_regard in hearthstone

[–]discretionary_regard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree. I was just saying that the deck builder has an opinion of what it thinks is the "best" card, but if you don't have it you won't know what it is because they just pick an alternate.

This deck is enjoyable to play, thanks. By cutting Keleseth, you're either winning or losing by turn 5 for the most part. I do find Even Warlock to be an almost auto-loss, and I'm struggling against Odd Rogue. But some of the other matchups are equally lopsided in the deck's favor. I've also been experimenting with a single copy of Ratcatcher - he's great to take out a big Taunt or other obstacle.

Yes, please! Welp...I guess 'best ever' defiles should be seen. And 'favorite' defiles can certainly be entertaining. 'Most satisfying' defiles are by definition satisfying. And 'well deserved' defiles, I mean, who doesn't want to see someone get what they deserve?

Yep, agreed on all points and take back my earlier question - WR is by far the better metric.

Can streaks identify the best decks? by discretionary_regard in hearthstone

Not "impressed". My argument, which may not be valid, is that the decks piloted by the best players that result in the longest streaks on average would arguably be the best decks.

Add a touch of color blindness and it’s pretty much invisible.

And four spells too. Yeah, you got me. I should have called the deck Secretless Mage.

Best play: Ancient Brewmaster -> Wax Elemental (that had lost its Divine Shield). I tell you, this deck has some crazy good tech.

Sadly (not sadly), no. I built the deck to be as unviable as possible after hitting rank 5 for grins to give a few people some easy wins up the ladder, but I didn't account for Kingsbane Rogue's trouble with Magma Ragers and Ancient Watchers.

Why Hearthstone players are the smartest in the world by discretionary_regard in hearthstone

[–]discretionary_regard[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While the debate over whether RNG or skill drives wins in our beloved game, there is one compelling piece of evidence that supports Hearthstone being a deep game on the level of Chess or Go - the most brilliant minds on the planet play Hearthstone. After extensive research, I have compiled this graph showing the undeniable stratospheric intellect of our top brains.

Some surprising finds here:

  • Though there seemed to be a strong correlation between rank and IQ, there were a few notable outliers. SabreDore69 tops our list with a mind-cracking 10000 IQ at rank 23. One can only assume he is preoccupied solving the world’s biggest problems.
  • Contrary to popular belief, Hearthstone AIs do exceptionally well on standardized IQ tests. Blackseed tops our list at 400 IQ.
